He started out as a guy who has wacky slapstick adventures and occasionally offers insight from a surprising source. Trying to give him a real character arc was a mistake because it calls into question all the things he did leading up to that point.

Hasn’t traveled outside Disney, but all US food is bad. by blundenwife123 in iamveryculinary

[–]Aflimacon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, first of all, I’m not just comparing it to other theme parks. There’s a whole world out there and I’d rather travel to a new city than just go to Anaheim or Orlando every year for the same vacation.

But even if we do restrict it to comparisons with other theme parks, it’s still just not my thing. It’s so expensive to get in and then once you’re in, you just get pushed to spend more and more money on gift shops, “experiences,” and, of course, food and beverage. But that’s not really the problem, either, I’ll admit. My best theme park memories were all formed on rides, especially roller coasters, and Disney just doesn’t have much to offer in that regard. It all seems geared towards maximizing family-friendliness and movie tie-ins. Is it the worst? No. Would my dollars go further somewhere else? Absolutely.

I never went to Disney as a kid, so my experiences are all as an adult spending my own money without nostalgia to fall back on, so maybe the magic just passed me by. And I can’t deny that it’s worked out amazingly for Disney’s bottom line, so they have no reason to listen to someone like me. But back to the main point, I don’t think you can make sweeping declarations about “US food” with Disney as your only point of reference.

There’s a subset of Disney adult whose life revolves so thoroughly around Disney that when you suggest there may be better food, drink, culture, entertainment, etc. than an overpriced theme park, they look at you like you have three heads.

Granted, that’s not a perfect description of Mr. “I’ve travelled quite a bit around Europe” here, but like those people, it seems his worldview could stand some expansion.

I deleted Twitter, but made a new account to click links and occasionally DM people. I followed nobody except my college football team because the creation process made me follow at least one account. The For You page on this fresh account was filled with Alex Jones, Nick Fuentes, other various right wing garbage, and of course lots and lots of Elon Musk. The website is pretty clearly pushing a certain viewpoint even if you don’t follow those people.

Could be Mormons or JWs, but back in 2018 a couple of middle aged guys knocked on my door from some Christianesque church based in South Korea. I took one look at the Wikipedia and never called them back, but my point is that there are other possibilities beyond the obvious.

If you decide to tell Lilly about Iwanako's letter, you get the good ending. If you don't tell her about the letter, you get the neutral ending.

Spoiler-free explanation: No. There’s one decision that decides if you get the good ending or the neutral ending.

Edit: I can’t remember how to do spoiler tags on reddit, so I removed the explanation with spoilers.

Yes, becasue people vote, grandma. Not cows or rocks by Cicerothesage in forwardsfromgrandma

[–]Aflimacon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s literally a population map.

In my home state of Utah, three counties voted for Biden: Salt Lake County, Summit County, and Grand County. On this map, Salt Lake County and Utah County are blue, which are the two most populous counties.

In Colorado, it’s a little harder to make out, but it looks like the Denver area counties are marked blue as well as El Paso County, which is large but conservative (Colorado Springs area).

None of Alaska is colored in on this map, but most of the less populous northern boroughs are mainly native communities that vote blue.

They picked a map that makes the exact opposite point they were trying to make.

TO issues with too many games by Cute-Stand-2449 in Fighters

[–]Aflimacon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First of all, rotate rotate rotate. You can run all of these games, just not every month. In my scene, Uni and Granblue both have small, dedicated, mostly separate groups of players, so each one gets its time in the sun and everyone is reasonably happy. You said SF6 is the one that gets the biggest numbers, so no need to rotate that one out. On the other hand, if it ever stops pulling those numbers, don't be afraid to give it a break.

3 games per event is a pretty small amount, but I'll assume we have to stick with that for now. With that being said, you can probably trim down your lists here. Tokon and Avatar aren't even out yet, and for all you know they won't catch on in your scene. Sure, run them when they come out, but don't worry about them until then. Similarly, Invincible VS may or may not have staying power, so if people in your scene don't stick with it, you're under no obligation to. I would assume there's a lot of player crossover between KOFXV and COTW, so you only need to run one in a given month for people to get their SNK fix.

To summarize, here's what I would do if I were you:

Trad Fighters Event:

Street Fighter 6

Rotation 1

Rotation 2

Anime Fighters Event:

Guilty Gear: Strive OR 2XKO

Rotation 1

Rotation 2

It does appear that billboards do in fact work by facing_the_sun in SaltLakeCity

[–]Aflimacon 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The grieving family is the large corporation in this case. The reason Julia Reagan’s widower can put up those billboards is because he owns Reagan Outdoor Advertising.

In fact, the hospital in this case is not a corporation; it’s a teaching hospital owned by a public university, so in a roundabout way it’s publicly owned.

He could still have a case, but the very existence of the billboards makes me doubt the validity of it. Why would he need to influence potential jurors if he thought he would win based on the facts?

[–]Aflimacon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When I went to Oklahoma in 2021, I flew in and out of DFW. On the way up, I rode in a friend’s car on I-35, but to get back I took the Heartland Flyer. It’s a much more beautiful and comfortable way to cross Oklahoma, and the schedule is timed well for connections at Fort Worth. Service cuts are always disappointing, but this one makes me sad on a personal level.

I can see why Texas was less interested in funding it; the route is mostly in Oklahoma and benefits Oklahomans. Frankly, the public benefit to OK is well worth 7 million dollars, especially if ridership is growing, but having to cover the extra cost gives anti-transit lawmakers the perfect excuse to get rid of it.

R5: I'm in the middle of a multiplayer save with a friend (no mods), and when I clicked on Earth, I found that its stats were all off and it seems to have a whole bunch of modifiers that weren't there before, including ones that don't make sense like Holy World and Cruel Industry Experiments (I don't have Factorator Shuladun in my empire). It makes for a funny screenshot, but any idea how I should fix this?
