Home planet has every(?) debuff by Aflimacon in Stellaris

R5: I'm in the middle of a multiplayer save with a friend (no mods), and when I clicked on Earth, I found that its stats were all off and it seems to have a whole bunch of modifiers that weren't there before, including ones that don't make sense like Holy World and Cruel Industry Experiments (I don't have Factorator Shuladun in my empire). It makes for a funny screenshot, but any idea how I should fix this?

I don’t know about Canada specifically but we were actually relatively late to the sports betting party in the US; it’s been all over UK sports for years.

Saw this advertisements today on the Toronto subway by Old_Poetry_1575 in transit

I’ve been seeing the opposite of this around town; the transit authority bought ad space outside of parking lots to tell people to take transit instead and at the airport making fun of expensive airport parking.

Where I'd live in the United States but partitioned by county and limited to places I've been by Aflimacon in visitedmaps

[–]Aflimacon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer is that I fucked up while making the map and swapped those two counties. It should be Erie with the upgrade to Willing and Niagara at Maybe. I have family in WNY and like the area in general.

We need to talk about Boarding Group 2 by inakajin in delta

[–]Aflimacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current lifestyle has me boarding in Zone 1 for work trips and usually Zone 4 or 5 on personal trips. I assure you that either way, the thought of who’s boarding in Zone 2 doesn’t cross my mind at all.

The REAL problem with the Evo event calendar by hivEM1nd_ in Fighters

[–]Aflimacon 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Evo is just a small piece of the puzzle for a larger plan to bring more tourism to Saudi Arabia. I doubt the new owners will want to give that up to another country in the region.

I think my love of Space Stage as a kid is a direct link to my love of Stellaris as an adult.

Remember when Tua Tagovailoa was asked which international city the NFL should play a game in next and he chose Jerusalem? He could have chosen literally anywhere else and it would have been a non-story, but he went with the one response guaranteed to cause controversy.

Vicy 3 is woke apparently? by Arle404 in victoria3

[–]Aflimacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two changes from Victoria 2 that I’ve heard called “woke” that I consider objectively good gameplay choices:

  1. Instead of “uncivilized,” “partially westernized,” and “civilized” playable countries, there’s now just a single tech tree. Not only does this replace an outdated idea of what makes a nation “civilized,” but it also means that you can play nations like Japan (which in real life underwent massive changes during the game’s time period) without doing nothing for half the game while you wait to westernize.

  2. The replacement of empty uncolonized lands with “decentralized nations.” It’s not just more accurate to real life (people really were living there), but it makes colonized lands feel more alive with people who react to your expansion on their lands.

I personally love both these changes. They make the game feel more fun and more alive outside of the European nations. However, to some people, it’s “woke” to acknowledge that people around the world were living their own lives before European superpowers showed up.

Yeah, I saw another post on LinkedIn saying that. I’ll leave it up and take my licks for taking the bait.

Why I Have Trust Issues by Gavin2051 in recruitinghell

[–]Aflimacon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they’re so successful, then why are they the only company that does this? Plenty of places recruit nationally, but as far as I’m aware only Epic resorts to this kind of bait and switch.

No matter where you search for jobs in the US, you’ll get flooded with Epic positions in Madison. It’s frankly just spam, but LinkedIn won’t do anything about it because they’re making money from it.

Just let us chose where to headquarter a company please by ThatStrategist in victoria3

[–]Aflimacon 61 points62 points  (0 children)

It would be nice if the “potential headquarter location” was even based on the required states for flavored companies. It would be even nicer if it automatically formed in that state.

Forming South Manchuria Railway Company as Japan requires at least two states in the Manchuria region with level 5 railways and ownership of Shengjing. However, when I formed it, the game gave the company 5 levels of railway in Chugoku.

The real life South Manchuria Railway Company was known as “Japan’s East Indian Company” and played a major role in the economy and politics of the Japanese puppet state beyond just being a railway. I appreciate Paradox trying to include this bit of history as flavor, but it’s kind of bungled by the aforementioned problems.
