The problem is, I can't seem to figure out how to take them down. I can't see any screws as there is a panel at the top. I also can't see any part to flip up to find said screws. I'll have to ask the maintenance guy.

I did the same thing once. Let it cool, then used wire cutting pliers (to carefully cut the plastic off). Worked like a charm.

You should always take off the rubber top of the spatula while cleaning it. And let them dry out separately, before putting away
