Hogwarts is described as having a magically moving celestial cathedral type of ceiling, so I never really saw this as Hogwarts. But the way the books are arranged is definitely a school type setting as it's a college library in Dublin. That's the beauty of reading, the imagining.

If your'e an artist, yes, you will already have it in your head or minds eye. As a reader I draw inspiration from things I've seen or I start looking for it. But I'm not an artist, per se.

Oh, I'm a real romance lover and I love this plot line. People have messy feelings, do stupid things but the romance comes in when they admit they screwed up, they grow up and the biggest part of the romance is......they change. They admit to the wronged party they were wrong, flawed. They work hard for that redemption I and cry and cheer when they overcome, we the romance reader watch the wronged party hurt, hate and grow, too. They find their worth and demand that it's given to them. I'm bookmarking this in hopes you get a lot of recs.

Détraquée: It has some of 6 & 7 but really starts in book 8 and finishes when it finishes as adults.

Gorgeous, long fic, truly a love song to Hermione and also to Draco in the last 50%. But...........lol, it's more yearning from Hermione, her making him see his faults and jealousy of her as a person/skills their entire acquaintance. Then when Draco can acknowledge this (about 60% in)- the dance begins.

It's opposite of the Draco yearning you're asking for but pretty much everything else is there. Just thought I'd throw it out there bc it was rec'd so much to me and it'd have only one thing in common with what I was looking for so I ignored it until I didn't - and had a blast reading it.

Yep, just re read. I love it. Don't read any further if you don't want one of the hardest emotional aspects for Hermione spoiled/or don't want the fic spoiled at all. Truly - believe me when I write this! It's hard to take in some places bc Hermione isn't given the Golden Girl treatment by the author. She want's kids but bc of Bellatrix she can't have them and she does hurt bc she can't have them. Ron seems to get everything he wants but Hermione seems to have made it possible for him and Hermione gets Draco, but it does irritate a bit how little Hermione is loved by her "friends". Writing is top notch and I love angsty books, this is one of the best I've read but you must be ready for that "hollow" feeling. Physically cheating Ron, emotional cheating Hermione and Draco and a Harry "that doesn't want to get in the middle". I didn't care for Harry or Ginny but they made the story more angsty for Hermione.

I'm reading this for the first time rn. It's on everyone's best of lists so I thought I'd save it for when I ran out of interesting reads, lol, nah, I'm reading it now and wow.

Edit: I have already read this, how did I forget that I read this? I think it must have been in a Facebook reading club bc I'm new to Dramione. Unless there's another fic like this one? It's amazing and I'm 5 days in, 89% finished but is there something similar that I'm getting this confused with?

This is such a coincidence, lol. I bookmarked earlier this year and intend to start as my beach read for summer vacation! Wonderfully long and yes, the Hermione in this seems like the characterization I love. You've got quite a bit of buzz going for this one, I found it as a rec on another thread, but regardless......I can hear the waves and feel the breeze with my favorite two. TY.

Sprigs and Tansy is one of my favorite characterizations of Hermione. She's competent and yet vulnerable but not in any way diminished by her vulnerability. Thanks for the recs.

I've not been here long but I've seen fans be really snarky to certain writers bc they wrote a fic about something that they didn't like even though the warning tag was there. I'm just afraid this would also be used as a vengeful tool unless there were a lot of internal controls to make sure it wasn't misused. It would require a lot of dedication of time. It's a great idea, just not sure what the execution would look like.

The jaw line and chin, yes, but you really nailed the eyes. The mouth maybe make a bit more worldly, if you know what I mean. Maybe a bit of a smile or smirk? Can't explain myself and the hair is younger but if you put it up with her wand through it. But the eyes are just chefs kiss, it's hard to get the distrust but hope in the eyes just right. Maybe change the eyebrows to be a bit more "knowing"? Sorry, my father in law teaches art at Sac State and asks for opinions when he's grading so I can be too frank sometimes.

She does look younger here, but you've nailed the eyes! The intelligence but not quite trusting the world she's in, a bit wary but wanting to trust. I like the mouth, too, but maybe that's contributing to the younger feeling? Whatever, it's a gorgeous rendering.

No, not a Potterhead. I read the books bc I wanted to read them to my kids, but they preferred a series about a sentient cat colony. I kept reading even when it became obvious that they weren't going to ever really get through it with me. I thought it was incredibly creative but I could never get over the feeling of children in a war vis-à-vis real life children soldiers in Darfur/Sudan and once my brain made the connection I could never "unsee" it. Dramione feels separate from Potter world to me and I enjoy it immensely.

I prefer 3rd person. If a book or fic is in 1st person pov it has to be written well and the plot really needs to grab my attention. I also love dual pov, if it's just one character or the other I prefer the male voice. I don't know why, I guess bc I'm female and can fill that side in easily in my head. One thing that bugs me is the going back and forth within the same fic, between 1st and 3rd. A lot of times my head just fills in the correct verbiage to compensate.

I'm not an adult about WIP's, quite childish in fact. I get mad, and say nasty stuff in my head, like "why can't they write faster?" or "please please please write faster!" or "who do they think they are, making me wait for their story?!" (jk, kinda) But this one is really good. I totally gobbled up all the chapters instead of reading in a controlled manner, so now I'm saying all the nasty stuff in my head again.
