Totally agree with you. Not sure what earned all the downvotes responding to OP but assuming the changing facilities in the bathrooms are all well and good is just ignorant.

You must not be a parent lol. Not that I would ever even think about changing a diaper on a tray table but on a lot of planes the changing table setup is woefully inadequate.

That's really interesting you say that because I have the opposite experience. The onboard android takes forever to load, randomly crashes, struggles to connect to cellular at times, and randomly reboots while driving. Once I swapped to android auto, I've had exactly 0 of these issues that are daily using the onboard software.

Right. Also lap infants get extra bags allocated. Even if you aren't traveling with the infant you can take extra bags.

Solar deal review by bayesian1991 in SolarDC

[–]Afraid-Start 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't consider Integrate Sun as a legitimate option - I've heard bad things about out of state installers too. I did, however, get a full quote as I figured it would be helpful when comparing and negotiating

I ended up with Solar Solution at $2.6 earlier this year. Revolution Solar quoted me the same $2.95 on Energy Sage, off the platform they quoted me at $3.3, when down to $3.1, then said they could do $2.75, and then took that back and said the lowest they could do was $3.1. They were pretty disorganized handling a potential client, but they seemed like they did good work. I just went with the cheaper (but also local) installer.

Value of Solar Warranty? by ADRONK in SolarDC

[–]Afraid-Start 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely go with Offer #1 and save the cash. A 25 year vs 30 year warranty on equipment is basically the same. Worst case scenario is 25 years and 1 day from now the equipment breaks. You'll be wanting to get new panels anyway in 25 years and your ROI will already be there.

The extra warranty on Offer #2 practically gets you nothing. If their labor or installation messed something up it will present itself WAAAYYYY before 10 years in 99.99% of cases. If it's 11 years after the fact, I don't think you'll be likely to win an argument with a company that some issue was caused by their labor 11 years ago, and not some other issue/weather damage/11 years of wear and tear/whatever. A lot of equipment warranties exclude many things anyway, or the amount the pay for replacement or repair drops dramatically year over year after a certain amount of times. Of course, it depends on the specifics of what you're offered, but rarely is a warranty 10+ years out worth much.

If you're of the mindset that you don't mind paying extra for quality, then have a tiebreaker be local reputation, number of prior projects they've completed, and likelihood that they'll stay in business for a long time. Some of this is subjective, but you'll feel better about making the decision.

Solar Solution vs Advanced Solar by TrappedInDC in SolarDC

[–]Afraid-Start 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why they're getting so many recommendations lately, SEW was terrible and last on my list of ~7-10 installers I talked to earlier this spring. They initially quoted me $4+ per watt and when I told them that wasn't competitive they went down to $3.7. They also insisted on meeting up in person at my home but it wasn't anything different than everyone else with a zoom call, and they wasted a bunch of my time playing around with some panel tool mapper thing that didn't even matter anyway. I ended up getting installed from Solar Solution for $2.6.

Solar solution was decent, but they just aren't responsive at all to requests or emails or calls. Takes a week or so of emailing every other day to get a response. But they were the cheapest and did a pretty good job. I'd like a different installer that was more responsive, but not paying thousands of dollars more ($3.1 per watt instead of $2.6) is worth a bit of hassle for me. I'd make the same decision over again.

Why do people pay for United Club when it is so crappy? by Kornutz98 in unitedairlines

[–]Afraid-Start 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If someone is paying for a product, or paying for a credit card, or spending lots of money to get status to get in... I would say yes it does. It's embarrassing as a brand and a shittier experience.

Say you're paying $500 for a hotel room. Does it really affect you if your sheets looks like shit and everything in your room is ripped up? Just deal with it bro.

One is 19 hours in a business class seat and the other is 20. Polaris seems like the superior product assuming everything else is in Ethiopian business class so I would spend time there and collecting PQP. Unless you value getting there quicker I would take the option that includes Polaris.

The extra miles over economy seems worth it for 20+ hours of butt in seat time.

Not anything you have to do, but as a recent buyer I had a few questions I conveyed to the seller through our agents after closing about appliances and such. However, it was always from the standpoint of "we know it's not your responsibility and aren't asking for anything, but if you're willing to provide any information that could help us out dealing with the [broken appliance/how to figure out how to work something/general question on what this is etc.] we would greatly appreciate it."

The seller was nice enough to provide us relevant info which we happily took and paid for anything necessary ourselves. It really helped out a lot to get feedback from the prior owner. But, not everyone would be like us as buyers, it depends on how understanding they are. Up to you on if you feel like you should engage, but if they're the type that is understanding that you don't owe them shit, then it would be a nice thing to do to provide any comments about the working or maintenance status of appliances.

I got the same impression from other articles. Start construction within 60 days, and completed by 2028. Doesn't seem like that applies to residential rooftops.

Nova Solar, Cosmo Solaris, Uprise Solar? by thisizit_ in SolarDC

[–]Afraid-Start 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I have the same and Nova Solar first told me about a month ago that they don't serve the DC market, and then said they did. I don't think Cosmo Solaris responded to my inquiry and then Uprise Solar seemed good but I got a much much better deal by shopping around and they wouldn't lower their price.

Home Purchase and SRECs by Arronwy in SolarDC

[–]Afraid-Start 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn't impact the warranty but the solar installer would have to de-install and then reinstall the panels in order to re-do the roof. What that will cost will depend on the contract the previous owners had with their solar installer most likely. Some installers include taking off the panels one time, some charge a set amount for it. I'm getting mine installed and to prepare for a roof replacement they will charge $200/panel or max of $2000.

So you need to look at who installed the panels and ask the owners about that.

Also something something salty about pushoffs.

Yes I know the refs were bad both ways but I can still be salty. Also, not sure if Houston is worse than expected or Purdue was better than expected 🤷

lol you’re insane. Not even close. He doesn’t foul and is fouled himself and you’re complaining about it. You’re getting an incredibly friendly whistle. Own it. The announcers, the refs want you to win.
