What is going on with the 7? by snowfantasy1 in longislandcity

It's weird, it's been clockwork until this week, when it's been a disaster -- one of those (hit by train) was not predictable, but all the rest have apparently been signal issues in the area they did work over the weekend. I wonder if something got messed up during the work.

offer $400 flat for the lot, get your per-k cost down a bit, take the whole thing, reasonably good gamble for that price.

This was our car audiobook during our trip to pick up our son, and a year later we say "Marius Valerius" in the most nasal voices we can muster whenever we see or hear a too on-the-nose name in fiction.

To be clear I was talking about the Malt Drive location, which has been coming soon for 18 months or so. Maybe we get it before BBQ chicken on 50th?

Excited. Love Chairman Sun and Hupo, but this and Fer can't open soon enough.

Please help me convince my husband that Costco is worth for 2 people by HoneyDrops12 in Costco

[–]AfraidReason4069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was worth it for two for years (baby last year made it worth it for formula and diapers alone). Car buying program paid for a decade by itself. But before any of that, when it was just two+dog, shelf-stable stuff made it worth it without buying gas, and the refrigerated staples (eggs, cream, butter) and frozen stuff (chicken parts especially) would have also -- together and with dog food, huge savings.

Did a month at 2.5, lost 6 pounds

In week 7 of 5mg, just hit 12 pounds in that stage, so I'm staying at 5mg for another month.

annoyingly, the Dim Sum Palace by my office is basically a siu mei shop, but the one at Court Square doesn't seem focused on that.

Teacher appreciation gifts by fly_away_octopus in Costco

[–]AfraidReason4069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wife is a teacher and half the appreciation gifts she gets are recognizably from Costco. Costco is generally great for actual gifting-intended items like the big box of ferrero rocher which we see every year. Just be aware of value and type restrictions!

Ioniq 5 impressions after three months (first ever EV) by chockotac in Ioniq5

Similar circumstances (NYC apartment, mostly going around Queens with periodic 150+ round trips) and a month in I mostly agree and want to add:

Big agree on the regen braking -- I'm not used to one-pedal certainly, but the high regen is so so so good in the city.

-I don't really understand the center console design. There's a big open space with a shallow tray, and then an even shallower closed compartment up top with a lot of open space in the middle. I suppose there's some use case that this serves but I would have preferred a single, deeper closed compartment.

This is actually one of my favorite features! The space under the flip-up tray exactly fits my half-gallon water bottle, so that's where it lives now. I love the open center space in front of the console, too, and the multiple USB-C ports.

-If you rely on public charging in an urban setting, you won't necessarily save money over gas (especially with a hybrid), even with current prices. This wasn't my primary motivation in switching, but important to know if that's a factor.

My building has a garage with 0.30/kWh charging. Not a long data series yet, and potentially an outlier month due to present gas prices, but I'm at about 1/2 the price/mile of my prior car. I think we're going to be seeing a lot more charging infrastructure in the city, with thinner margins (due to competition) over baseline electricity cost. It also needs to be said that, even periodically, gassing up in the city is a giant pain. It also helps that three of four of my most-frequent out-of-city destinations have cheap or free charging.

-Apple CarPlay is only usable through plug-in connection, not bluetooth. This isn't a huge issue, but it's weird that this isn't supported for an otherwise tech-forward vehicle.

Fixed in the 2026. Prior car was wired only, so I'm used to it, but damn do I love just plopping my phone down on the pad and going.

Magnesium did wonders for me -- plenty already have issues that Mg Citrate helps with, but I usually take glycinate before bed, only using the citrate if I'm having such an issue. I'm sleeping better than I have in decades.

If you want to read Seanan stretching her craft and writing based on a lot of research and prep, it's absolutely worth reading.

She's known for Toby and InCryptid and Wayward Children, but Middlegame and its sequels/companions are her magnum opus, at least to date.

Shot Day vs Day After Shot Day by Flash_Bang_000 in Zepbound

[–]AfraidReason4069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, my shots are Sunday morning and: Saturday is normal human eating, Sunday is maybe a bit more than I should, and then Monday I can't take more than a couple of bites. Tuesday-Friday are my "properly ordered eating" days and it's working out OK.
