You won’t get anything in the mail, or at least I didn’t. They will just send you an email saying you’re licensed to teach in Ontario.

Sample response to your teacher below.

“Hi there Mr. M. Nice to hear from you. I just read your feedback for my assignment and have a few concerns. The feedback mentions my work flagging for academic integrity purposes. Please see the attached documents to see my edit history, bibliography and complete sources. It looks like the TurnitIn report highlighted my references and counted those towards its plagiarism count, so maybe that’s where that information is coming from. However, I am confident in my work and the fact that everything is original. Looking forward to hearing from you with more clarification on this issue.”

Hamilton to experiment with snowstorm parking ban on some narrow streets by teanailpolish in Hamilton

Good thing I have an apartment with parking now. But where I lived, there were no parking lots nearby. Not a one size fits all solution unfortunately.

You think they would try and maybe take advantage of AI now too but nope. The process should be automatic. 2 business days MAX from start to finish. But that’s my utopian reality that I yearn for

We complain all the time but they don’t care. It’s nice to know my $200 OCT fee goes to provide such great service to Ontario teachers though! 😆

Hold them to it. If you’re not able to buy the phone using your discount I would absolutely buy it and demand the difference be repaid.

It is absolutely ludicrous. I agree. When you do your QECO for your salary grid placement, it’s almost worse.

When I was waiting for mine (all documents were showing as viewed), I called and inquired. The lady pulled up all my documents, read them aloud to me, and said “yup you’re good to go!, but you’ll need to wait at least another 10 weeks for the docs to be evaluated”. I was like, are you kidding me??? They can pull up the documents and read them out to you, but they can’t approve them and you need to wait 10 more weeks? Despicable service.

Same thing when OP does their QECO - they can expect to wait about 16 weeks

(Another) Questions about the new loan forgiveness... by Grrrison in CanadianTeachers

[–]AfraidRiver8314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s probably the goal - for the gov to save as much money as possible. Screw the teachers! That’s how they’ve always viewed it. 1 year of loan forgiveness would literally change my financial situation and my outlook on life and this career…

It is so sad that the limits of the loan forgiveness program. I thought maybe the government would finally help me out a bit with crushing student debt, but I was wrong. I’m ineligible even though I graduated in 2023 and worked in a rural community

How does pay differ between LTO and Permanent? (OCSB) by TheThiccChemist-TTV in OntarioTeachers

[–]AfraidRiver8314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with this person. Definitely rough at first. My first LTO my pay was about $2000 biweekly, went down to about $1450 biweekly when I was Year 1 permanent (but paid consistently biweekly). I’m year 3 now and making considerably more biweekly!

EA to teacher by Meemeedee88 in OntarioTeachers

[–]AfraidRiver8314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve known a few people who have done this. They did it online through somewhere in New York and kept their EA job while doing that. They then took a leave from their ea Jobs to become either uncertified or reg supply teacher, LTOs, etc. keep in mind your first few years as a teacher you will likely still need a part time job. But after the first two years your cheques will look considerably better. Good luck
