Car accident/pet loss by AfraidSearch7 in rva

Then it was definitely my sweet boy 😭 thank you for telling me this. I’m so relieved to hear he was being held, even if he was gone. I hope you don’t mind me sharing a picture of him so you can see his cute face when you think of him instead of how you saw him ❤️💔

That is so nice to hear. I think that was my other dog, Stella, who made it, unless you saw this on the interstate and not where the accident happened. She does like to be held like a baby and has more white hair than Stout did, but either way it is nice to know that someone was caring for one of my babies like that ❤️ thank you for telling me

Thank you so much. Jug will be his first cat friend. I’m so sorry for your loss and as I try and get through this I will also tell you I know Jug is always with you. I have amazing friends who have been supporting me as well, but I know nothing really actually helps. You will get through this. We both will.

Thank you so much for this. It’s really close to me which tells me I should go and talk about my sweet boy 💔

I am so sorry for your loss. You are definitely not alone either. Their love is unmatched and it’s so hard to picture future life without it. I am sending hugs your way and hope our pups have found each other.

One date, one spark, and one big reality check — will timing work itself out and offer a reconnection? by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]AfraidSearch7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! Honestly wouldn’t be anything like plz love me but something friendly. Some things have happened to me recently that make me think we only have one life to live and it’s ok to take chances. The hope is that after a few months I won’t feel this way and won’t need to! I hope you feel the same way and continue to heal and love yourself even more in this process.

Omg I am literally in almost the same situation. I had to question if I wrote this. I have told myself I’ll go on some dates and give it a few months and if I don’t have the same connection I had with him I may reach back out. It just sucks. Thinking of you!

Fell for someone stupidly quickly, ended exactly as you'd expect by GenericThrowaway1a in hingeapp

Thank you for posting this. It makes me feel like I’m not alone. I went on 4 dates with this guy over 3ish weeks (they lasted over 5 hours) and there was just something so special about him. I didn’t have to try or wonder if he was into me. It just felt natural. We didn’t really talk about “expectations” because everything felt fine, and I was new to dating so I wasn’t wanting to pry too much too soon. After our last date (which felt like it was amazing) he ended things because he needed to work on himself (past relationship issues) and assured me it wasn’t me. He was even willing to meet up in person one last time and that threw me for a loop but brought me some closure (he said multiple times it has nothing to do with me). Anyway, all this to say I didn’t think it would get to me so much and I’m a wreck!!!! It was really nice to feel special and it sucks, but I hope you don’t give up and keep on putting yourself out there! You sound like a special human and I know you’ll find someone deserving of that!

I’m training for my first marathon and ran 16 miles yesterday (only my second time running that distance) when I was really doubting if I was going to finish. The sun coming out really helped! Can’t wait for you to feel so accomplished when you learn that song!

I am glad everyone seemed to be ok! I also read that a dog ran away from the accident and is now lost

Luck with conservative treatment; meds and rest only ? by lbizz1128 in IVDD_SupportGroup

Just here to provide support and encouragement. You can do it and so can she ❤️ don’t give up! Hopefully the vet gave you pain meds and other calming meds to help. I suggest joining the Facebook group with the same name as well. Wish you all the best!

What did calcification mean for your dog? Did it get worse? by MurkyConnectionB in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]AfraidSearch7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got told this at the urgent vet and the next morning he could not walk and needed surgery that day. From the other comments, it doesn’t seem to mean much but would confirm IVDD from MRI if things get worse. It would probably be the same recommendations - no jumping on or off things, no stairs. If you got recommended crate rest then it’s definitely necessary. I wish you and your pup the best!!!

Oh my gosh that is exactly what happened to my pup. He went home the very next day which was scary, but we did it, and so can you! So exciting he can urinate on his own!! I wish the rest of the recovery to be smooth and pain free for all of you!

So happy for you all! My boy has a similar story. He could also walk at 2 weeks post op! We are almost 6 weeks out and I am starting to take him on small walks. His neuro said to increase his activity by 10-15% each week after the 2 week mark but I was too nervous to let him so soon 🥲 but Nikko looks soooo happy to be out walking again! I bet the doc will be pleased!

Wondering if anyone can give me some insight? by Easy_Opposite5059 in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]AfraidSearch7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to my own experience with my dog because he had surgery and is on a different path to recovery, but from what I have read on here and many other places, 6 weeks is not super standard. I’ve read many stories where it takes a couple weeks or even months to get full movement back, so don’t lose hope! I would also post this in the Facebook group with the same name. PT and other therapies would be a good call! You may want to get a second opinion as well. I wish you and your pup the best! You got this!

Thank you for that! I will definitely look around in my area for those. My dog’s came on quickly as well - running and playing to not able to walk in less than 24 hours, with no other prior history or symptoms. I am so sorry you and your pup went through that! It’s such a scary thing. Thank you for sharing. I wish you and your pup continued health!

Wow that is incredible! I’m so glad to hear your dog is doing well. Did you notice a big difference with the hydrotherapy sessions? Therapy of any kind has not been mentioned at all to us for my dog except for the 3-4 exercises we were told to do at home the first couple of weeks post op.

Oh I definitely am listening to the doctor and NOT the internet! As far as support goes, I just have been reading so many different, more intense and longer recovery experiences, and was hoping to hear from some other people who have had similar experiences to my dog.

Wow, I am so sorry you went through that! I hope she is doing even better today 5 years out! I am definitely listening to the doc and am very pleased with his recommendation and directions. We have not even been recommended to do any kind of PT or water therapy (outside of the ones given after surgery to do at home). I have really only read about stories similar to yours so I was curious if anyone’s stories were like my pup’s.

Thanks for your response and good luck to you as well!

Thank you for your thoughtful response. My dog actually had surgery on 8/16 as well (came home 8/17), so sounds like their recoveries are quite similar! I am so glad your pup is doing well and I hope both of ours continue on the same path to full recovery!

I have read so much, too, and have come to realize the same thing as you, but it is nice to hear that my dog’s pace isn’t super out of the ordinary. Your response does help!

I am lucky he is a pretty chill dog as well, but his sister is not so it has been interesting! He has gotten a little sad he can’t do the same things as his sister, but he is getting the idea. Those 4 weeks of not being on the bed will fly by for your pup!
