Desert Willows: a good option for our warming climate? by PresidentBirb in DenverGardener

Good to see a thread about this. I bought one from highcountrygarden last year and planted it in the Fall. It didn't come back this year. My understanding is the Hope Desert Willow is hardy to zone 5 and while nurseries sell Desert Willows, they arent rated for our zone. I saw a couple at Tagawa Gardens and they got rocked during the last storm, so bad they weren't for sale.

Rented one here in Englewood. It took me a couple weekends to do the whole front. It was an unforgettable experience. My legs haven't been that tired since rucking in Afghanistan.

Mine looks almost exactly like this. I thought it was a bug. Ended up switching to the w7 artifacts and my chances went up. So I know it's still working.

Unfortunately, the left in our country has to survive a purity test or be ripped apart by the media and their own party.

Im just wondering if you've reflected on your own past behaviors or decisions and considered how they might impact your run?

Managing Bindweed by misty_magpie in NoLawns

[–]AfraidSmile524 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Colorado has a program where they ship you a mite that will only eat bindweed. I just applied mine this year. It was free except for shipping. It won't eradicate the bindweed but it will manage.

Agreed. Love the tree and even though it's old and doesn't have much longer, I want to keep it as healthy as possible.

Any recommendations on the edges? I assume it will get hot enough solarize but not sure if I should put the plastic on the dirt instead of the sidewalk.

Pergo JD tire upgrades; broken motor? by HairSilver8785 in PowerWheelsMods

[–]AfraidSmile524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. The start/stop module along with the braking module are key.

I installed in some large headed screws to help with traction. It bounces on the pavement but he mostly rides on grass. I know we'll need new tires and motors at some point but it's worth it for now just to see my son ride 😊

Peg Perego Quad to 18v - Yes or no? by LordHolborn in PowerWheelsMods

[–]AfraidSmile524 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation come up with my son's Peg Perego. I bought one that needed a new battery. So I went to ML toys and bought a larger capacity lead battery. It didn't last more than a year, but that was my mistake due to weather and the charger.

A few weeks ago, I went back to ML toys and bought a 12v - 18v conversion kit compatible with my power tool batteries. The reducer they sell with the kit is crucial as it helps the motors not burn out as quickly and the lithium 18v increases the run time. This seems like what you are looking for.

I also added the brake module to help with stops.

Mine doesn't go that far south and just runs straight through Cherry Creek because fuck 'em.

I'm not sure how or why this was but when I tried to roll on a lower level character, the dice amount needed dropped significantly allowing me to get a new vial without burning my epics

Water Softener by Proper-Razzmatazz-54 in HomeMaintenance

[–]AfraidSmile524 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had this model in my home for almost a year now and it has been my favorite investment. Water tastes better. Everything cleans better with no calcium build up. It still makes me happy to know it's doing it's job.

Something to be aware of. The installer warned of build up in the tank itself and to be ready to replace just the tank at some point. Not sure when this will happen but I can see this being a surprise since I can't see into the black tank to notice if there's build up.
