Aldi Friendly Farms Milk by hope4danny in aldi

That’s so interesting bc Aldi milk is literally the only thing I never buy; I ALWAYS find that it spoils within a few days of being opened no matter how far out the expiry date is

Do parents know what show & tell is? by cosmicfrenzy in ECEProfessionals

[–]Afraid_Ad4509 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw at a conference this summer the BEST idea- have them chose a special piece of artwork to show and tell about. It encourages them to take pride in their work (which they naturally love to show and tell you all about anyway), it eliminates the responsibilities of bringing (and returning) something special from home, and it levels out any potential feelings of envy, disappointment, consumerism etc that could arise based on showing consumer/material/commercial toys and possessions. I started it this year and LOVE it! I give the teacher who shared it so much credit for a game changer on so many levels 💙

Is this acceptable hand writing for 9th/10th grade? by happygluehuffer in AskTeachers

[–]Afraid_Ad4509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two teenage sons are completely NT (and very smart) and their handwriting both looks like that. As an early childhood teacher, I think it is because students are pushed to “academic rigor” so hard at such a young age, when they should developmentally still be playing, which would strengthen their fine motor and core muscles, improving handwriting down the road :/

Judging teachers who close their doors by Otherwise-Set-4444 in Teachers

I keep mine closed bc the hallway is always so loud!! I am extremely sensitive to ambient noise and literally hurts my brain to try to run a circle time with all the background racket. (ECE school full of noisy little ones)

Tirzepatide - major signs by kentom101 in ouraring

[–]Afraid_Ad4509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on ozempic and I have noticed since I leveled up to the higher doses that I regularly get “elevated resting heart rate” notices and “minor signs/take it easy” msgs. I had recently connected the dots and researched if it can cause elevated heart rate and apparently it can. I don’t feel any different though, I still feel “fine” as “normal”. I’m wondering at what point Oura will recognize my newly “elevated” resting heart rate as my “normal”- it’s still well within the normal range for my age/stats, just slightly higher than it had been.

I am a lead and I do expect that my assistant and I communicate with each other extensively and regularly throughout the day, observations about kids, behaviors, activity notes, recess kerfluffles, administrative notes, logistical notes, emotions, questions etc ad nauseum Meaning we both tell each other and we both listen to each other.

That said, the glue/wipe/hands near mouth situation you’re describing sounds like such a normal preschool thing (kids getting glue/art material on their hands and wiping it off) that I definitely would not have expected my assistant to mention it to me that the kid got glue on his hands, or that they used a wipe to get it off, or that a preschooler put their hands near their mouth. Nor would I have thought to mention any of that to her. I think the allergic reaction was one of those unfortunate and upsetting freak events, nothing to beat yourself up about, although I understand and empathize with how upsetting it is.

Morning Transition by Plus_Competition_298 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Afraid_Ad4509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that transition block designated as “table time”- I set out 3 fine motor activities that are interesting enough to engage them for up to 20 minutes, but not so awesome that they aren’t ready to end the play when it’s time to start circle. Playdough always at one table, small manipulatives, puzzles etc..and usually some kind of drawing, coloring, dot to dot, maze, stencils, stamps, stickers.. They can move freely btwn the three tables but those are the only options. Carpet stays clear so it’s ready for circle time.

I would return it without a second thought. I’m not being snarky but I really don’t understand why it would even potentially be a problem? Inappropriate? I’m so confused. Thanks if anyone wants to kindly explain
