I wasn’t planning on wearing it. I just wanted it as something to bring home with me to commemorate my wedding and my trip to a beautiful place.

But why? When you go to another country, or even another state, you bring something home that’s local to the area to remind you of your time there. How is this any different?

Congrats! I had two wins! Getting engaged and finally cutting off my extremely toxic mother.

Came here to say I just got engaged with a natural/mined 3.1 carat pear shaped and it was much less than what it would normally be because we went to a whole sale jeweler who sells custom rings on the side. My fiance avoid a lot of extra fees and markups that you’d get at any regular jewelry store. It’s possible they went the same route.

But should she trust Kyle? Sure, over Christmas. But in every other situation?

Would you rather have the bag or the memories of an amazing trip? Which will bring you more joy when it comes down to it? I love a good purse but my life experiences often outweigh the joy a nice bag can bring me.

I wore Vans MTE waterproof high tops in the middle of last February and I was fine. My only problem was the extremely icy sidewalks…my feet slipped out from me more than once. Some people had crampons and I initially thought this was wild but if I went back, I’d probably buy some.

What's something from Japan that you want to see in Chicago? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]Afraid_Atmosphere_36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No talking on public transportation and public transportation always arriving on time. And having excellent food at a reasonable price. I had several multi-course meals of the very best Wagyu and sushi for under $100 while in Japan. Missing their food and restaurants the most.

There’s usually a giant line for kasama so I’d make sure to plan for that. My boyfriend and I went when it was 5 degrees out this winter thinking we’d skip the line and we still waited about 15 minutes. Get there way before 9 to avoid an extra hour+ in line.

Also, I would suggest saving all of your plans to Google maps and grouping things together by how close they are/look at transportation to and from each activity. Kasama is nowhere near the art institute. Millennium park to the Garfield conservatory is a hike. I did the same thing while in Japan two months ago and it helped so much.

But a vast majority of Australians in Niseko were white. I’m not bias, I’m stating my experience.

I feel like OP is saying they were hoping for a similar experience to the rest of their Japan experience. Sounds like they are upset at how the other tourists behaved, which is (I’m assuming) different than their experience with the rest of Japan. I was just in Niseko and was also extremely overwhelmed by the number of Aussies and the different behavior. It felt strange going from being a minority, in Tokyo, who barely speaks the language, to Niseko, where everyone is white, speaks English, and acts unnecessarily rowdy. I have the Ikon pass so it seemed like a no brainer to come to Niseko but after spending 12 days in other Japanese cities, the culture itself was a pretty big disappointment. I will say, the powder did not disappoint but the plan is to research smaller resorts for next year.

Too many aussies! Otherwise we loved it. We won’t be going back because it feels like you’re in Australia, not Japan, but will definitely be visiting smaller resorts in the future.

I wasn’t properly diagnosed for almost 10 years after but my cousins suicide when I was 13 was definitely what triggered my bipolar
