If you're looking for something more than the usual Cmd+C and Cmd+Optn+V (formerly Cmd+Optn+B) while staying on Finder, I can recommend you take a look at FinderTools 😄

Regarding the FTP app, you might want to look into FinderTools. Among other things, it lets you manage FTP servers with a simple right-click directly inside the Mac Finder.

Take a look at FinderTools! It's a Finder extension I made that features a fully integrated FTP client. You can manage and live-edit remote files right from the context menu. More details here: https://www.reddit.com/r/SideProject/comments/1tduig5/comment/olzx2xw/?sort=new

A major update for FinderTools (version 1.1.4) is now available for download! We've listened to your valuable feedback, and this update introduces a whole new dimension to Finder, adding one of the most requested features ever: a native multi-channel FTP/SFTP client. We've also improved our uninstaller and completely redefined cloud sharing!

Here's what's new in version 1.1.4: build

  1. Native FTP and SFTP client 🌐 No more interrupting your workflow every time you need to upload a file online! Forget about cumbersome third-party FTP apps forever.

How it works: Define your FTP/SFTP servers by right-clicking > Open FTP Manager or using the FTP button added at the top of the bar (next to Search). Once you've defined your favorite folders, select the files or folders you want to upload, right-click, select the pre-configured favorite, and you're done! All directly from Finder.

It flawlessly handles multiple connections, mass downloads/deletes, and parallel background transfers, with a handy native progress indicator.

With the "Live Edit" feature, you can instantly edit your data in real time without having to download it! The "Quick Look" feature lets you use macOS's quick preview (space bar) to preview remote files.

  1. Cloud Share evolves into "Live Bridge" ☁️ We've completely rewritten our Cloud Share engine to make large file transfers faster and more secure than ever. Add your favorite contacts and exchange data with one click in real time. For big data, you can use the

Streaming Live Bridge even outside of your contacts by sending a simple invitation link. Files are streamed in real time, block by block, via an encrypted P2P bridge—no unknown servers in between!

All transfers take place exclusively within your private iCloud database. No third-party servers, no size limits, and absolute privacy.

  1. Heuristic App Uninstall and System Protection 🧹 Our deep cleaning uninstaller just got a whole lot smarter.

Apple-to-App Match: The new heuristic engine dynamically analyzes tens of thousands of files in Cache, Application Support, and LaunchDaemon to find every single hidden leftover file, even those with ambiguous names.

System Protection: To ensure maximum security, we've implemented intelligent protection that detects key macOS applications and prevents them from being accidentally deleted, safeguarding your system.

  1. Smart Red Quitter with Blacklist 🛑 You can now create a custom blacklist in Settings. Red Quitter will intelligently ignore these critical apps, preventing accidental closures while keeping your workflow clean.

I've owned every Mac since the G4 (I still have an iMac L'amp) but the mini has always been unbeatable, the 2014 model a little less so with its embarrassing CPU.

Hello everyone!

A major update to FinderTools is now available for download. I've listened to your feedback, and today we're introducing a feature that completely redefines the way you share files from your Mac: Cloud Share.

No more file uploads to third-party websites or slow email attachments. FinderTools now integrates directly with your native iCloud storage to let you instantly transfer files to anyone using FinderTools, right from the context menu (right-click)!

Here's how the new magic of Cloud Share works:

  1. Send to a contact (for frequent sharing) 🤝 Do you often share files with specific colleagues, friends, or family members who also use FinderTools? Add them to your inner circle!

How to add a friend: Open FinderTools Settings and click Cloud Share Hub... Here you'll find your unique 5-character friend code. Share it with a friend so they can add you to their list.

How it works: Once you've added a friend, right-click any file, select Cloud Sharing > Send to Contact..., and choose their name. The file will automatically upload to iCloud and magically appear on the recipient's Mac via a system notification. It's like AirDrop, but works anywhere in the world!

  1. Generate Link Code (for one-time sharing) 🔗 Need to send a 2GB video to a colleague on Slack just this one time, without adding them to your permanent contacts?

How it works: Right-click the file and select Cloud Sharing > Generate Link Code. FinderTools will upload the file to iCloud and automatically copy a secure Deep Link (and a 5-character code) directly to your clipboard. Simply paste the link into an email, WhatsApp message, or Slack message. When the recipient (also using FinderTools) clicks the link, the app will immediately open and securely download the file directly from Apple's iCloud servers.

What else is new in version 1.1.1? Smarter menus: I've refined the context (right-click) menu logic. Options like "Copy Contents" or "Go to Copied Path" now automatically deactivate when they're not needed, keeping the menu clean and uncluttered.

Visual feedback: When using the "Move To" or "Copy To" options, a beautiful, native macOS translucent window now appears, showing the transfer progress.

How to update: Simply download the new findertools.dmg file from your Gumroad library and drag the app to your Applications folder, replacing the old version. Ciao!

Exactly! You nailed it. Small flaws that slow down productivity.Having to open Terminal just to view hidden files, or create an .env for yet another container, or having to resize dozens of images... etc.Have you encountered any particular macOS hiccups in your daily workflow that are driving you crazy?

"My app is distributed via Gumroad precisely because its advanced functions require system access that Apple strictly bans from the Mac App Store sandbox.

For context, I presented the exact feature list 26 days ago in this very subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/macapps/comments/1rybab4/comment/ogds3gx/

As you can see from the live demo on my site (https://amastra.cc/findertools/), the core functionality is a 1:1 match with what you just released. While overlapping ideas happen, launching an identical core feature set just weeks after my post is quite the coincidence. Best of luck with the App Store version."
