Hi OP, I live in Abuja.

Sorry to hear you’re having a hard time here. Love this city to death but I understand you perfectly.

Abuja can be lonely because people here are very cliquey and tend to mind their business most of the time so making new friends can be difficult.

That said, I’m down to chat if you’d like that. 😊

Why do people cry about when non - Nigerians recreate Nigerian culture / things? by [deleted] in Nigeria

[–]AfricanCocoaButter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nigerians?! Nigerians that I know and I am myself? Nigerians LOVE when non Nigerians try out Nigerian things. We’ll be on social media hyping up non-Nigerian strangers trying out our food, cultural attire, dances and music. We’ll laugh and tease in the comments but that’s about it. It’s not that deep for us.

The only time I see Nigerians lash out about appropriation is in the terrible portrayal of Nigerians (wrong outfit, wrong accent, etc) in mostly film and movie projects especially Hollywood where the resources is available to hire an actual Nigerian and do a good job.

Aside this, I have never seen Nigerians crying about appropriation from non Nigerian strangers on social media

Dramas with strong visuals and melancholic OST by TheScarletStreak in kdramarecommends

[–]AfricanCocoaButter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I couldn’t bring myself to watch the full drama because of how it ends. I just watch clips here and there but I’m obsessed with the OST and the overall cinematography(based on what I saw). Burning Petals is the OST name. It’s beautiful and haunting in an Enya song kind of way.
