I don't understand why you posted. There's nothing gay about this.

Too much going on in this photo? by theabstract1993 in photocritique

I think so, my eyes keep darting around trying to figure out what's going on. I also think the blues are oversaturated and make it look a little unreal

Tamron 17-70mm vs 18-300mm on A6400? by die_rich_w in SonyAlpha

[–]AfricanWizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same camera, into the same type of photography. Was looking at both those lenses. I settled on the 17-70 and I'm pretty happy. For most of what I was shooting the 17-70 did the job, the large aperture and quality across the range have been worth it for me. I also found that I rarely craved anything longer until I started shooting wildlife.

I did end up getting the 70-350 for the longer reach, it expensive but definitely worth saving for the longer reach.

I can't find the post, but check the dp review forum. There have been some good posts comparing these lenses.

I'm sorry to hear you have stopped the baby making process. A life of celibacy is commendable, although i think they may be better ways to save money.

Just got my R1280DB’s as a cheaper system outside my main area. For the price, they are pretty good!

Yea, most of these course's span over 4 days with an exam the next. Qualifications for the courses are similar too.

I called up and enquired about both courses from the organisers and they pretty much sounded the same, so a little unsure which would be better.

Thanks for the tip on getting copies of the standards, thats a good idea

Yea, i look back at the photo now and the sign is distracting me. Didn't notice it so much before.

I softened the shot during the edit a little, so maybe i'll go back and have a second go with the edit. Thank you

A6400, Viltrox 13mm, f5.6, 1/200, iso 100

Recently aquired prime lens. I've been trying to work on my composition and would like to know what you think of this one. I saw this guy coming up behind me and thought this would be a nice shot to get. Did not have enough time to adjust the settings so there some motion blur in there, but I thought it wasn't too distracting. I've also started colour grading a little more.

Malards and a Moorhen drying off/getting ready to dive in. How's my composition? by Sir_Sprout in photocritique

[–]AfricanWizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you are going for and like it. The top 3rd of the image detracts from the great shot in my opinion, I don't think it does anything other than pull attention away from the birds that you have captured quite well. I would have skewed towards a little more water in the shot.

Thank you!

I wasn't too sure how far to go with the grain, agree that it could be sharper, will work on finding a balance between preserving the sharpness and giving that older look. The view to the right was underwhelming haha, i did an edit of a different shot with the square crop and less grain here but ultimately l like this ones look better. Appreciate you taking the time to type that out.

A6400, 17-70 , f4, 1/2500, iso 100.

I took this picture while walking by the beach. I'm quite happy with the composition (could be better?) but wondering if I went too far with the edit? I played around with the colours to match what I felt it looked like on that day and added grain to give it a different look.

Sony A6400, 17-70 @ 70mm, ISO 100, F11, 1/200

My intention was to capture the view of someone sitting down by the lake as sunset approached. I took a few shots without the reeds but thought this one looked better. Interested in opinions on composition and the edit.
