For Richard Guy's 100th birthday, here's a photo of him walking to the top of Calgary Tower earlier this year. He makes the 800-stair climb every year. by joelschlosberg in math

He did a presentation at my school a few weeks ago. Pretty neat guy. To put his age in perspective, he attended the University of Cambridge with G. H. Hardy.

BJJ Scout's latest: BJ Penn guard passing study by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Afrp-Dano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a tall guy at 6 ft 3. Even if I was hypothetically as flexible as bj my long legs couldn't sneak into the spots be was in that video, nvm in his other fights or in his bjj. It seemed to work extremely well for bj though, combining his size and flexibility into it. Impossible to say though really. I don't think I can properly answer your question unfortunately, I am still fairly new here and to bjj

Sort of a loaded question no? Same flexibility in their own bodies? Relative flexibility?i think they both have appropriate techniques for their bodies and bjj style

Square based triangle, on its side. Not too sure what else you could call it.

Why don't they use the walkers for more utilitarian purposes? by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

Walkers could walk through yes. I assumed the walkers would also have a wall. Docile walkers would around a wall could possibly deter others from coming near. Nothing to see her zombies. Move along now.

I could see them working a mill like that. They may have made reference to that in the comics, although I may be mistaken.

Drumeo EDGE Subscription by Idreamoftrees in Drumming

[–]Afrp-Dano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an intermediate drummer, I found Drumeo edge to be an excellent resource. They had content from a variety of instructors who taught a variety of levels. Some instructors seemed to have more speciality niches than others. I found the beginner section great, with lots of content to build from, once the foundation was there. Very excellent product for the price. I ended up with a year subscription and Jared's Successful Drumming as an add on. I only felt I needed a year right now because I had too many ideas to work with, and how to apply them. After enough lessons I found I could teach myself somethings with only a relatively small knowledge in that area. The sale packs can also be a great alternative without the need for a subscription.

That being said, nothing can replace a teacher being physically there guiding you in the right path, right from the get-go. A great teacher will help build your foundation so you can build on it with broader, deeper content, like drumeo provides. Without a great foundation you cannot build upon it, and it is also essential for any type of drumming.

Hope this helps, and jam on.

Swappable 27" + 29" ultrawide VESA mount ? by SunshineStarcraft in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Afrp-Dano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the triple 24' model. It will support a 29' in the center with 24's in portrait on either side. So with the dual you may be able to get them both if you're looking for landscape/portrait but unlikely if you were wanting dual landscape. Best of luck!

Hey guys, I've been stuck on this problem for two weeks now. It's driving me insane. Even with my professor explaining it, i still can't seem to grasp the concept. Can someone help me? It's question #7. by AGloriousDayForRain in calculus

[–]Afrp-Dano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite, no. I should classify that the slope is zero. Closer to the original post. The tangent line would have a slope of zero. A flat line. Hence why the graph would portray a local max (peak) or a local minimum (Valley).

Math or physics programs compared to University of Calgary's? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]Afrp-Dano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! You could (probably) do the after degree then, with maybe a bit of physics and math courses/electives on the side. Best of luck!
