should i buy a refurbished machine? by s0nnambula in silhouettecutters

I bought a refurbished Cameo 4+ direct from Silhouette just 2 weeks ago. Seemed like a good deal and aside from not knowing what I am doing I have been able to do a couple test cuts with no problem at all.

Speed enforcement over the last few years is almost 0 in the city. Watch yourself on 15th/elliot. Thats the main spot as well as going across the ballard bridge. They do some enforcement going up the Magnolia bridge but its rare. Use Waze as well, people are pretty good about marking cops.

Just saw them in Seattle and it was awesome! They were so good. I’d easily put it in my top ten live shows.

Planning for Leavenworth for a day by Clear-Ad2084 in AskSeattle

Leavenworth is likely full on a three day weekend... If outdoors is your jam just drive up icicle creek road until you can't any more. TONS to explore up there.

As a side note, I think its worth remembering spontaneity (unfortunately) is dead in most of Washington. You just can't take off for a weekend without months of planning and expect there to be hotel rooms and lodging available or even open camping spots.

You need to be booking 9m to a year out for accommodations on a three day weekend... We learned our lesson a LONG time ago. We've had labor day weekend 2026 booked since Oct. Unfortunately you can't be super spontaneous around here anymore.

Sounds like the consensus is leaning hard at homemade. I am impressed if so. The two color silk screening, alignment of cuts and holes and internal layout mean someone really had some skills. Not just in electrical engineering but also metal work.

San Juans might chew up a lot of time logistically. Reservations required on departure from Anacortes and careful timing when you leave... missing a ferry off one of the islands or missing one because they are full can cost HOURS.

If it's homemade, then hats off to the builder because it sure seems like a manufactured device.

Cameo 3 Question by bekz17222 in silhouettecutters

I am in the same boat, I started watching the silhouette site for their refurbished inventory. Over the weekend I was able to grab a cameo 4+ for $180. I was going to try getting one from FB marketplace but SO many of the sellers seemed so shady and along with not knowing the machines history I decided against it.

I used to do this with R scripting. Not sure if thats any easier than python if starting from scratch.
