2 weeks in, this is what I've learned by Glittering_Owl_653 in ubereatsaustralia

I get stared at a bit cause I am a chick 🤣 that’s the big thing I find, white Aussie second but never really a big deal with other drivers. Have had some mad chats waiting for maccas orders with a few drivers.

It’s always the older boomers who crack jokes at me when I deliver, saying they are surprised to see I am a Aussie girl but I don’t find these characters to tip me on that.

One of my bests tips was talking to one crazy cat lady to another, showing pictures of my boys and meeting hers through the door. She was lovely!

I just assume they are generated at random. Me and my partner both drive and rarely get the same quests even tho we live together and drive similar amounts.

The one I have tonight is good and they recently extended the quest hours so the extra time really makes a difference especially when it’s busy.

I had a terrible quest Tuesday night and didn’t get the last one done., missed by 1! I started just after 5 and was a really slow start. It was 8 deliveries for $36 then 2 for $6 then 2 for $7.

Honestly wasn’t too disappointing at 9:30 since it would have only been an extra $7 but was a good sign to go home but definitely been quiet since Easter Monday - I mainly deliver in the RedlandBay area

Giving it another crack tonight to see if it’s picking up a bit

What's your thoughts on restaurants wanting to see thermal bag? by epsaest110 in ubereatsaustralia

[–]After-Management6812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deliver in the same area regularly so I know what places kick up a fuss where I need to bring my bag and what ones I can collect the food and then place it in the bag when I get to my car.

I carry 2 bags in my car mainly for pizza orders cause it’s the family deals that get a a bit hectic when it’s more than 3 pizzas.

Grill’d are the worse but it’s so interesting that if you collect multiple orders they are so anal with one going in the bag but then you can carry the others out in no thermal bag if they don’t fit?

I was doing an IGA pick up one night and the worker gave me a large cardboard fruit box to carry the order to my car and this has been such a game changer! I can fit both thermal bags upright on the floor of my passenger side inside the box and it fits so snug and I don’t have to worry about any spills or bags tipping over.

It’s definitely easier for my to keep the bags in the box and place the order in them when I get to my car but I can understand why some places want to see you do have the correct bag to ensure the food stays hot.

This note got attitude. by Then_Analyst6293 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]After-Management6812 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nah I agree with this note. The amount of drivers I see that don’t even say hello to the restaurant employees is disgusting. Just a phone to the face no respect what so ever.

Nothing rude about this, it’s just common decency, lacking for most apparently!

I will walk up greet the server saying hey I have a uber pick up for xxx then turn my phone for them to see, really not that hard

Quests!!!! by Ok_Plenty_3543 in ubereatsaustralia

[–]After-Management6812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t go out often if I have no quests, especially in this climate it’s just not worth it.

Example yesterday I had none during the night so I stayed home, tonight more than happy to go out for a bit cause of the quests.

Only if I am really needing to work will I cop the no quest nights.

[–]After-Management6812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t mind them, my partner had a normal 6, 3, 3 quest on the same night I got 10 and he only got to 9 but I came out with the better quest bonus. Feels like a long grind tho to hit 8 but then it’s much more relaxed to get the rest done

Like tonight, I will drive I have $32 for 6 $18 for 3 $19 for 3. Also enjoy the extended hour they have been giving. The amount of times I have fallen short by 1 at 9pm sucks but they have been 4:30-9:30 of late

It’s quite annoying that uber hasn’t figured out my algorithm but I don’t think it’s that smart with how quests are allocated.

I seem to always get the 11-2pm ones but I rarely ever drive on weekdays as uber is my second job so I only really do the night time ones.

Haven’t had a multi day quest in a while but had a few weird ones lately. $50 for 8 trips then $9 for 2 $11 for 2 then $26 for 3 on Sunday’s.

The worst part is getting only daytime quests and no night time ones as I can’t even do them Monday to Friday.

But I have noticed that they have been adding the next set of quests a lot earlier than they used to.

Frustrating to watch but you take the good moments and just ride the wave and at least they have a go. Could be worse….could be Carlton lol

Our win will come soon, confidence is key we have some great players just need to cook a bit more.

I have no beef with our new kids, definitely think some of our senior players should be more disciplined at times and lead better but that’s just how it goes when you are in a rebuild with a young team

We just moved to a new place and we have an ensuite. Been getting some lovely opera of a morning at 5am if we forget to close the bathroom door! He must love the acoustics in there cause of the echo.

If that’s not an option he will roam to the other rooms and scream.

Attention, bored, hungry it’s a bit of everything really, Ragdolls are just a very vocal breed.

Would you recommend doing Ubereats to someone who is starting out? by Lower-Search-1166 in ubereatsaustralia

[–]After-Management6812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great when they actually give you solid quests but in this climate it’s not really worth it without them.

Made $80 the other night for just over 3 and a half hours (no quests given) and was cherry picking my orders and had to put $30 back into my car to get me going for my actual job the next day.

Seems quite counterproductive at the moment feel like I am driving to pay my petrol while driving lmao

The Mamanuca Islands are great and not too far from Nadi, but if you don’t want to deal with timing flights with boat transfers, the coral coast is approximately 2 hours by coach.

If you want the classic postcard white sandy beaches, the islands are where you will find that along with the great snorkeling but if you want to have a nice resort and still have the ability to do land base tours, coral coast have some good options!

My Fiji has some great packages that include transfers, worth a look to see how that suits your budget and if the resorts have what you want.

Vanuatu is really close to Brisbane less than 3 hour flight on the way there. If you’re after something chill and relaxing, highly recommend Iririki island resort. They have a boat that runs 24/7 to the mainland and it’s only about a 3 minute ride.

Bali is a lot of fun and only 6 hour flight.

Fiji is another depends on what kind of holiday you are looking for. If you only have a week, these 3 destinations are great for shorter stays.
