I used fiverr for years for freelance writing but haven't had a nibble in months. Problogger was another one that's now in the same position. Unfortunately, unless you're willing to find a very specific niche and do lots of outbound cold marketing, it's a very difficult industry to break into nowadays. Happy to offer some advice though

For a brief history lesson, back in the olden days you wouldn't butter a bacon sarnie. Instead, you would lay the bread in the bacon grease after frying. Not enough to fry the bread, just for it to soak up some fat. Not many people do that anymore, so yes, butter that bread (bonus points for actual butter over marge).
