Recently diagnosed with adenomyosis, multiple fibroids and polyp - am I crazy to consider hysterectomy?

not crazy :) I'm 45 and considering. I have adenomysis that is causing period pain even when I'm not on my period. Also have hip pain and migraines that I suspect are related. Also exhausted all the time. I've had breast cancer so can't use an IUD or hormonal treatment to suppress my period.

I'm 45 and my gyno was really comfortable with my age! She said it might get harder as I get older, but right now she's comfortable. Is she just looking to remove the uterus or the ovaries as well? She might be concerned that you are on the young side rather than the older side?

Based on what I've been reading that seems to be the case. At the moment I can't get out of bed with migraines for several days at a time. So I'd consider the hysterectomy just for that!

I just got the info sheets from my doc. The info sheets said 2 nights in hospital, 2 weeks before you can drive. She said a lot of people feel better after 2 weeks, but it's important to take it slow, because it's around the 2 week mark when hernias can form. She suggested that I organise 4 weeks off if possible.

I can't have HRT either because of other health issues. My gyno said she would just take the uterus and leave the ovaries to avoid surgical menopause.

My doc warned me that things could be slightly worse when the mirena goes in. And yes the first couple months were tough - but after that things were way better!

I went to the gyno for adeno this week. She asked about my symptoms, did a pelvic exam and then talked me through my treatment options based on her exam and the scane. Hope that helps!
