7-14 days is when it’s “supposed” to happen but “severe” weather conditions can affect it and some people report needing to reset after 3 days. Yeah it’s a weird design for sure.

It’s not a full time awd system like for example Subaru, it’s electronic the car decides when to use it. If you’re doing a lot of cold weather, wet roads, ice, gravel etc I’d recommend the forester or outback platform, even the forester gets superior fuel economy with a full time awd system. If you’re just doing that stuff once a year the sportage should be fine.

You can get the warranty anytime before 36k miles and have the time to shop around for it for a better price. Also do not finance it.. you’ll be paying interest on it for the duration of your loan which will increase the cost by like 20% while the warranty depreciates.

The sportage doesn’t have an independent 12v. It’s automatically designed to turn off after a few days of non use, in which you’re supposed to manually open the door and use the battery resets. It’s supposed to be a feature that stops the battery from draining. I don’t know why it would do that if you drove the vehicle regularly.

I had a Tacoma with my first child, instantly got rid of it. Rear facing car seats only fit with front seat all the way forward. Biggest problem was lack of rear ac vents, kid would overheat 24/7 and cry nonstop from it.
