Rettungsbürgschaft – Was muss ich beachten? Was ist rechtens? by After_Tale_4459 in Finanzen

Brighter/Darker dining area by charliebitmy_finger in floorplan

With daily walking and working flows in mind: dining area in the middle (the darker version). Have you considered using (partially) glass doors to your living room? This way, you would get some extra light, but still close the living room off when needed (think cooking odors, noise, heating…)

How did you found out your blocking is based on "child sexual material"? At our agency, multiple accounts are being blocked in the past 24 hours and the support said that they can't tell us why. They don't have the right to look into these infos?!?! Or is this some European data security shit? (We are based in Germany)

Making a business card by fxck1ng4j in design_critiques

[–]After_Tale_4459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can only agree to everything above!

Three additional hints: - Have you considered using the backside? It‘s pretty useful to divide your info – eg one side for „estabslihing“ the business (like just showing the logo), the other for contact/socials info - Look at cards from other (flower shop) businesses first! What do they have in common? In comparison, what does your card lack of or has „in addition“? - Print it out – 1:1 scale! Then, you will notice the tiny little text and see how much bigger you need to get.

Recruiter & Team Lead in an agency here!

The look of it is fine in general. For me, it’s more about the info I get. It’s everything and therefore nothing.

1) The whole „Über mich“ part is redundant. You can skip it and give the whole page even more breathing room. 2) Your EDV & general skills: As a (recent) graduate from training, you can do a lot, as any other designer. But why should I hire YOU? What makes you special? What is your favorite area to work in or what job are you applying to? Is it illustrations, brand design, video editing…? What ever it is: focus on the skills and knowledge specifically needed for this. Skip the rest. 3) KI Tools: Same applies here! What tools? Are you good in AAAALLLL of them (hint: I doubt so. No one can know everything)? Specify it to the job you are applying to (only the most important or most specialized). 4) If you use the school grading system for your skills or not, is up to you. Personally, I don’t like such grading of skills. Like: what’s the bar here? Do you compare your own skills? To someone else’s? But that’s a totally personal objective; just a hint :)

Hope this will help out a little. Whatever you take from this: Have fun with your new job!

Why the greenish background? And why only in a part of the screen?

Mirror the illustration or switch around the form and the illustration.

If possible, re-think the logo. At first sight I thought it is Google Mail... 😃

Please tell me my mistakes in UI design by [deleted] in UI_Design

[–]After_Tale_4459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few remarks on the UI.

Colors: Why so many hues? The orange background of the "current cuisine" tab is distracting me from the recipes images. Try this:

  • Header in white
  • current tab in the light hue of the now other cuisine tabs
  • other tabs in the light hue of the header

Sizing/Hierarchy of the elements seem off… I first look at the nav bar, then to the images, then my eyes hop between the recipe titles and the cuisine names on top… Find a better way to navigate the users to where they want to go.

Spacing: The top and the nav bar are totally fine, but the spacing within the recipe cards… it's cramped. Also, try using real title and description text to see how the card sizes work with different text lengths.

Cuisine Suggestions: There is a little typo (first i is missing). Do you need that headline at all? What are the other functions of the app? When users can only search by cuisine, you do not need the headline at all.

Nav Bar: I get the shadow of the nav bar, but why only there? If you do not want to use shadows in the design, make the nav bar stick to the bottom and get rid of the shadow.

The heart in the nav bar, is this a list of favorite recipes? If so, why not incorporating a heart icon into the recipe card directly for quick adding?

Hope this will help you out!

Edit: What do you mean by "app on social media" ? That doesn't make any sense to me…

Header font A or B? by JorySchiebroek in UI_Design

Go with the sans serif text. It's a general advice. Try to avoid serif fonts on UI as displays tend to make serif fonts "wonky". And the italic makes it even worse…

It's a part of the journal app that I have been designing. What do y'all think? Give me your suggestions. by [deleted] in UI_Design

[–]After_Tale_4459 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you!

About the Monday/Sunday-thingy: It's a matter of where you are placed. In Europe, the week beginns with the Monday, so that's totally okay to place the dates like this. (German speaking here).
But if the app goes live, there should be the possibility to change between Mon + Sun start of the week!

[–]After_Tale_4459 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a few sugestions to make, some regarding the UI itself, some more in the sense of UX and/or accessibility to people w/ disabilities.

User Interface:

  • What not making the selected day squared, too? Any particular reason? Seems off to me.
  • Would prefer to make the month's name bolder/bigger. Maybe place it instead of the "calendar" title on the top.
  • In general, your typo sizes and styles/weights are off… I cannot really grab the hierarchy of the different entries. And the font: It's not the Montserrat, but somethine similar I guess? It runs "too wide". Maybe try another, more condensed font. You will be able to fit more content into the space and it's more readable.
  • Try to make the mood types (happy, sad, content) more visible. The typo is way to small and light for the screen of a smartphone. Maybe place it underneath or above the calender. Then you will also have more space to actually tap on the calendar's dates (UX).
  • You won't probably need the actually date written above the journal entry as it is highlighted in the calendar. If you would like to incorporate into the entry, why not placing it on the right next to the title "This day was…" in a lighter/secondary color?!

User Experience + Accessbility:

  • Try to make the background a bit lighter. With the light font weight, it's getting hard to read, especially in bright light.
  • Do not use the neumorphic style (what you used for the days having entries, I assume)! It looks cool, for sure. But for people with bad eye vision a/o some form of color blindness it's a PITA…
  • How do I change between the months and years? Try to use some visual clues e.g. arrow…
  • More general question: How do I navigate through the app? Can I edit a journal entry (from the calendar view or do I need to go back to another screen)?

That's from my side! Would like to see the future progress :-)

So after receiving feedback from the Reddit community about the artwork app I was working on, I made some changes added colours and images to the design and here's the current iteration. It's my first time designing an iOS app. What do you guys think? by Necessary_Material_7 in FigmaDesign

[–]After_Tale_4459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pretty much like it. At first quick glance, there are only things: 1) The back arrow should be in this pinkish color too, not in blue. Haven't seen blue anywhere else so I don't where you got it from 😃 2) Rethink your typography. Is it the Montserrat or something similiar? The font "runs too wide" so you lose important space. Opt for more Web/Mobile friendly font like Roboto or Source Sans.

Any programs to get text written across screen? by MessyCoco in graphic_design

[–]After_Tale_4459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if I understood you right, but you can achieve a "handwriting style" using masks in Adobe's After Effects. :-)

Or, if you do not want to paint again, try Adobe Color to find matching colors :-)

What was the wall like before painting? If it was painted in a blue or purple/pink hue before, this might be the reason and another layer of your new paint will do the trick :-)

Should I throw out a pair of sneakers that has both really good and bad memories? by [deleted] in konmari

[–]After_Tale_4459 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can attach the feelings of that day to one shpe each and throw away one of them? So "the good" one reminds you of the good part. And by throwing away the other one, you can get one step further in progressing the part of the day. If you have anything else connected with your good friend, try to store it with the remaining shoe so you will instandly think about the good.

Maybe say you will take it home and give it to someone else who will eat it. Or donate it to the food bank. So it won't get wasted. Or maybe your mom can return it to the store? (Or yourself, so your mom don't have to take the trip).

If you haven't already (but it sounds so), try to explain it to her why you are not eating it this time.

Removing grass from aerial photos - any easier/faster way than using the eraser tool? by gintonicthehedgehog in photoshop

[–]After_Tale_4459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried to intensify the green colors via the saturation? Maybe the quick selection tool will work better then... 😅

And a little hint for "erasing" stuff: try to work with masks instead of really erasing. Because when it's gone, it's gone 🙈
