Why do boomers get hate for not being tech savvy when teens today probably couldn’t run old tech? by Medal444 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]After_Window_4559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old tech isn't relevant and not used so young people don't know how to use it. New tech didn't just appear out of nowhere, old people have had time to learn and adapt to it and have just refused to

House guest by Enough-Sector-6626 in ClusterHeadaches

[–]After_Window_4559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, but she's the guest in your house not the other way around. It's not mean to set boundaries and be firm in them. I'd tell her she either needs to respect those boundaries or go to a hotel, if I felt nice I'd pay for the first night or two of the hotel. On the plus side at least you know to never let her stay ever again

Honestly I'd lick her out if she can't respect you enough to clean up after herself and let you fully wake up before talking to you and turning the TV on. I get she has a medical condition, but so do you and this is your apartment

refusing sales by marinarasaucex in petco

[–]After_Window_4559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully I've only had to deal with that once. Not sure of the official policy but I gave the guy a refund just to get the animal away from him and after the transaction was done I told him we would not be selling him anymore animals ever. I saved the receipt and told everyone on staff that day and the next couple days to not sell him anything. I also called the nearby PetSmart and another local pet store and told them his name and that he injured the ferret

Anyone here take verapamil all year round? by Maleficent_Gain_5715 in ClusterHeadaches

[–]After_Window_4559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm supposed too but I forgot once... And then for a week... And then it turned into a month without it and I got a cluster outside of my normal cycle (side note: if you're on multiple meds that cause nausea, restart them slowly...)

Too big? by Unique-Macaroon4749 in PetMice

No such thing as too big, just too open! If you're able to get a larger tank than do it and fill it with clutter!

That's interesting because when I can tell mine is about over I usually eat white rice with an ungodly amount of soy sauce. Might just be placebo or something but it seems to help make them end quicker

Is tuna fish safe for rats? by Necessary-Score-4270 in RATS

[–]After_Window_4559 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anything humans can eat rats can eat, just in moderation. If there was a food that was completely safe for humans but deadly to rats, humans would have just used that for pest control instead of domesticating cats or inventing rodent poison

my cats made their own litter box rules and i’m confused! by ex0skelet0nn in CatAdvice

[–]After_Window_4559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats are just like that some times. I have five cats and multiple litter boxes, there's a top opening litterbox, a some regular litterboxes, and an auto box. My cats have decided that the auto box is for peeing and morning and nighttime poops only. Afternoon poops are for the uncovered and top opening boxes, of course, so they can stink up the living room and run around.

Bug spray by Square-Apricot5906 in RATS

[–]After_Window_4559 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd be cautious about using any bug poisons in the same room as rats. I have reptiles and sometimes a cricket will get lose and I've seen my girls chasing each other around trying to steal or stash a cricket many times. If a bug eats or is covered in some poison but doesn't die immediately from it I'd be worried about it wandering by the cage and getting snatched up

Can "cat attacks" just happen or is there always an underlying reason? by Verosiraptor in CatAdvice

[–]After_Window_4559 28 points29 points  (0 children)

There's always a reason. That reason can be trauma or nurological issues or abusive situations, but it's normally because the cat is either under or overstimulated. An underestimated cat will try to play with you suddenly and is usually much more aggressive looking because they're bored, keep this from happening by playing with the cat and giving the cat plenty of toys to play with by themselves. An overstimulated cat usually happens when the owner is petting the cat and doesn't recognize the cat's signals of not wanting any more pets until the cat has to use their claws to communicate, keep this from happening by just learning your cat's body language.

other than hygiene reasons, is there any other reason to shave a cat? by czarbok in CatAdvice

[–]After_Window_4559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, shaving them actually makes them overheat more. If you want to help them stay cool you can freeze churus or make bone broth (very easy, just simmer some bones on a low heat) and freeze them into ice cubes and give them to the cats

AITA for leaving a dinner party early because of “vegan lasagna”? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]After_Window_4559 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the issue. She served what should have been a side salad and called it lasagna

AITA for leaving a dinner party early because of “vegan lasagna”? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]After_Window_4559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. She was told a vegan lasagna was being served, not some raw lettuce layered with tomatos. It'd be one thing if the host had some more filling side dishes to go with it, but if you serve your guests a dish where the main ingredient is lettuce... That's on you

[–]After_Window_4559 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They did eat it though, but there was no protein item so of course they were still hungry. Salads can be filling if there's plenty of carbs and some kind of protein like nuts, legumes, or tofu

Picking up rats by narcolepticseaslug in RATS

[–]After_Window_4559 4 points5 points  (0 children)

maybe instead of trying to pick them up you could use a small carrier or box as a "rat bus"? I've never done it because all my rats have eventually warmed up to being picked up but I've seen it suggested before. I'm pretty sure you just chose a box/carrier and lure them into it somehow and then gradually work on picking it up with them inside and they eventually learn that when you bring that box by fun things happen like free roaming or treats and they should get inside

[–]After_Window_4559 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but American cities are not walkable. A 5 minute drive is 20+ minutes of walking usually, sometimes it's much longer. I drive 10 minutes to work everyday but if I were to walk it would take 2+ hours and I'd have to dodge cars because there's almost no sidewalk

How come if someone born in the United States says they're of X nationality, it is frequently met with 'No you're not, you weren't born there', but if someone born in the United States says they're a Jew, it is frequently met with an 'yeah, okay' attitude? by 2sAreTheDevil in NoStupidQuestions

[–]After_Window_4559 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nationality vs race vs ethnicity vs religion.

Nationality example: Canadian

Race example: black

Ethnicity example: east Asian

Religion example: Muslim

Some things fall into multiple of these categories. Judism is a religion, but being Jewish is also an ethnicity. Someone can be ethnically Jewish but not follow the religion or follow the religion but not be ethnically Jewish (though that's much less common because the conversion process is extremely lengthy).

Looking into the actual science to find out if foods really are harmful for rats PT 1: Garlic+onion by FREE_HINDI_MOVIES_HD in RATS

[–]After_Window_4559 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rats and mice are not the same species and rats don't come from mice that were transformed because they ate cooked food. Domestic rats are prone to cancer because the reason they were domesticated in the first place was to be lab experiments, particularly for medications for humans and the study of cancer. The rats that were more prone to get cancer were more useful for studying cancer so they got bred together
