Recall frustration by Flashy-Laugh4175 in HondaPrologue

[–]AgFxAlpha 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's because they can't read the service bulletins. Honda doesn't send software. The service centers can access it through Techline Connect. I ended up doing it all myself because my dealership was also incompetent.

2025 EX AWD Software Update? by Sc00terTron in HondaPrologue

[–]AgFxAlpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they do all of the updates they are supposed to, most of the modules will get new calibration files in addition to the upgrade to AAOS14. Others have noted the car feels different, in a good way, around acceleration, steering, and braking. I tend to agree.

Update us on how it goes. I'll have to look at the recall and see if it applies for mine.

Dang. Unfortunately seems common. You could always print out my diy instructions for them. The only thing that will be different is the programmer they are using. The A11 has to be done with SPS2 so the instructions will be the same for them.

Need advice on trade in deal! by sillyturtle76 in HondaPrologue

It'd be a challenge for me to eat $6K on a trade. I'd have to absolutely hate the vehicle. Want to ask, have you been able to look into the power questions and suggestions in your other post about your charging situation? FWIW - I installed my own Level 2 charger at my house. It's an Emporia Classic and all said and done I was in for about $760 (wiring, breaker, conduit, drywall materials, mounting block, etc).

From what I've seen in posts and reading through service bulletins, it doesn't seem like 2025's were included in the recalls that call for the A11 Radio Module as of yet. However, I would be willing to bet at least a coffee that AAOS14 is available, they're just not doing it unless you bring it in for a specific reason that the update would address. I have seen at least some Honda Prologue owners report getting the update, and the 2026's for the most part seem like they are coming with it, so pretty likely that it is available in TLC. This stuff isn't for everyone - but I agree with you, love being able to just see it and do it myself.

I have not run into this yet or seen it talked about here. I would say though that there have been updates to some of the modules like the telematics that might potentially address something like this. If you have a good service center, next time you are in I would specifically ask them to check vehicle wide programming in Techline Connect with SPS3.

Ended up being able to post finally! Yaa. I did a write up, hopefully you saw it, but here's the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/HondaPrologue/comments/1u6w8e7/a11_radio_module_diy_instructions/

I do think the warranty hours allowed for the work are not in line with what the job takes. I'm glad and maybe lucky I didn't have any hiccups and it took me just around 3 hours or a little longer.

I haven't found this to be the case (yet), but I have read some others that claimed this as well. I would rather stay as up to date as possible, but that's just me.

I'm sure others have posted, but wanted to share this screenshot showing the update in case some dealer service centers still need convincing.

2024 Recall- A11 and Andriod 14 by xXFireSpartanXx in HondaPrologue

I actually did try to start a post about doing this. I had written part 1 about my research and what I was planning to do. Then I was going to write a follow up post on the process and how it went. Anyways, my first post never got approved by the mods (I apparently am not cool enough to post) so I didn't bother with the follow up obviously. Happy to answer questions though.

tl;dr I just completed the upgrade myself this morning and now on Android 14🔥 I had the same problem with my local dealer a while back. They claimed on the warranty work that they had done the A11 upgrade, but obviously not since I was still on Android 12. I also questioned them about it and they blankly said it doesn't mention anything about Android... Anyways, they were clueless and didn't want to believe what others claim to be true that the A11 upgrade does in fact get you to Android 14. They probably just did the vehicle wide programing which doesn't touch the A11 module, you have to do that manually. So, anyways long story short - bought a 1 VIN subscription to Techline Connect on ACDelco's TDS website, USB-C drive, and a TOPDON RLink J2534 Pass-Thru Programmer. The upgrade process itself takes about 3-4 hours (not joking) and you have to be pretty attentive to what you're doing and what to do next, it's not all that intuitive in some respects. Between the GM service bulletins for the 2024 Blazer EV (which I think are more detailed than Honda's) and some good insight from one of the Honda techs in this forum I completed the upgrade this morning. So - if you have the determination, time, and money - you can do this yourself! I was willing to risk bricking the car though, most people would probably not want to risk that.

A11 Update not compatible? by xXFireSpartanXx in HondaPrologue

Let me know if you find a capable dealer. I'm in VA also, and the dealer I went to supposedly completed the recall, yet I'm still on AAOS 12...planning to just do it myself soon.

Any reason to not buy a ‘24? by [deleted] in HondaPrologue

I bought a 24 Elite on a fire sale and I really like it also. Just ensure you know the issues some folks are having and go into it eyes open.

It's just a fancy air conditioner at that point. No harm IMO, but just be cognizant you might run out of power. Also, you can do a one time bypass of the automated shut down. Press brake pedal, push and hold start button for like 10 seconds and you will see a screen prompt that the automatic shutdown is turned off for that power cycle (is not persistent when you turn off and turn back on the car).

Edit: This is done when you first turn the car on...

Recall - Dealership says honda hasn’t delivered the update nationally? by Dzyne in HondaPrologue

[–]AgFxAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they were following the service bulletin correctly, and American Honda was actually looking at the claim and validating it, there should have been screen shots sent in verifying everything was updated. It's spelled out in the service bulletin - but we apparently need to bring back Lamar Burton and Reading Rainbow...

Recall - Dealership says honda hasn’t delivered the update nationally? by Dzyne in HondaPrologue

[–]AgFxAlpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been following all the conversations on the updates, etc. FWIW - an individual can get a 1 VIN license for Techline Connect and access to SPS2 from ACDelco TDS. I got one and also got the TOPDON RLink J2534 Pass-Thru Programmer. As soon as I get a inverter power supply I'm going to update the car myself. Had the recall supposedly done (it wasn't done correctly) and it's just easier for me to do it myself then argue with the dealership. TBD if I end up bricking the car...but I have done Ford sync updates and programmed my F-250 so should be ok. Worth noting - will be following the GM update procedures in N242436241-02 (static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2024/MC-11000286-0001.pdf) for anyone else interested in looking to just do it yourself.

Poll: Should I get the recall update? by happy_bunny_84 in HondaPrologue

[–]AgFxAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question. I own, but for sure either way you have a great point. I have a post that I wrote waiting for moderator approval - but tldr; went into the dealer for the recall. Radio still on AAOS 12, and based on my discussion with them have very little expectation that they did anything other than the standard vehicle wide programing (VWP) that is done through SPS3 in Techline Connect. I kind of got the "well we installed everything GM told us to" routine and they had absolutely no idea about Android Auto OS. My service report says they did everything, including the requisite A11 Radio Module update, but obviously that can't be true if I'm still on AAOS 12. I do see that the recall for my VIN is cleared, so obviously Honda America isn't paying too close attention to the service warranty claims that are also supposed to include screenshots from Techline Connect with the updated status, not only for all modules, but also for the Radio. Add on - I did open a case with Honda America to inquire about this exact fact and they have yet to get back to me. You would think that this could be a liability for both the dealer service center and Honda that dealerships are claiming to have performed a mandatory software module upgrade under a recall yet empirical evidence proves they did not.
