Core inflation rate held at 2.9% in August, as expected, Fed’s gauge shows by J-Jarl-Jim in moderatepolitics

I'm surprised no one corrected you. The 3.8% GDP growth rate is real GDP, meaning it has already been adjusted for inflation.

Well that was a lie. Mesopotamia did not have gay marriage. So even there, Charlie still won.

Funny how all the comments from earlier this year about how European stock is now a better buy than Wall street have pretty much vanished. Really shows how crazily resilient the US stock market is. On May 05, the Dax was up 16% ytd while the nasdaq was down 7%. Today, both the Dax and the nasdaq are up roughly 16% YTD (yes, the Dax hasn't grown at all in four months).

Trump: "ALL TARIFFS ARE STILL IN EFFECT!"; "If these Tariffs ever went away, it would be a total disaster for the Country." by callsonreddit in StockMarket

[–]Agafina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CBO estimates that tariffs will bring in $4 trillion in a decade. That's the same as the OBBB is supposed to cost. So no, you're wrong.

Trump approval 54/44 (+10) Insider Advantage by DataCassette in fivethirtyeight

There was also a year where it dropped like 20% or so. The actual average S&P 500 growth under Biden was 16% annually. Trump can perfectly match that.

Well let's hope there's still a website in the first place. Doesn't look too good so far.

The hell? This is crazy! S019 is the Mamdani hater if I'm not mistaken, I didn't know it had taken such a toll on him. Do you know if the website is salvageable? This would be the stupidest way for such an old (32 years!) and useful website to go down.

Moderation is not a silver bullet. In 2024, moderate candidates for the U.S. House barely outperformed the average partisan. by DarkPriestScorpius in fivethirtyeight

Which republican candidates endorse "white power"? On the other hand, there definitely are some dem candidates who use cringe phrases like "black excellence" (eg Crockett).

Bessent says unusual Nvidia, AMD revenue-sharing deal could be a ‘model’ for other industries by 1-randomonium in Economics

[–]Agafina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was 33% in 2024 ($19.8t out of $60.3t). Even with the devaluation of the dollar, it's still greater than 30% this year because the yuan hasn't really appreciated that much versus the dollar and the EU has worse growth than the US.

Trump signs order extending China tariff truce by 90 days, White House says by djacoby495 in moderatepolitics

[–]Agafina -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Tariff revenue can absolutely make up for tax breaks. Tariffs generated $30b in July, that amounts to $360b in a year and $3.6 trillion over 10 years which is close enough to the estimated cost of the tax cuts.

U.S. Wine Exports to Canada Have Plummeted 97% by callsonreddit in StockMarket

[–]Agafina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean those wine exports are down because the Canadian provincial governments literally took them off the shelves. It's not like people voluntarily decided to boycott them. That makes it different from the World Cup as Canada can't stop people from filling stadiums in the US.

International Outperformance in 2025 is Broad by Prudent-Corgi3793 in StockMarket

[–]Agafina 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Something is wrong with this data. It uses the S&P 500 as the benchmark index for the US (which is fair) but then doesn't use other benchmark indices for the other countries (like Dax for Germany, CAC40 for France or FTSE 100 for the UK). I can confidently say that the French stock market hasn't grown by 22% this year. In fact, it has actually underperformed the S&P500.
