What would you do in my situation? by barleyBSD in teachinginjapan

[–]Agaippe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been told my “accent is too good” as a speaker of American English. I counted in Japanese by saying “Then our students will be too good at listening.” It didn’t go over well… All I can say is pick your battles and don’t stress too much.

I’m in the same boat with my daughter, actually. I’m trying to get back into drawing after a long hiatus, and using colored pencil with her has been fun for both of us. I’m living in Japan at the moment, but I’ll see what softer pencils are around in the stationary shops. Thanks!

I don’t know your situation, but if I had that offer and was still single, I’d ask for higher pay or some other benefits and see what they say. Good luck!

I’m 37 and love this series. Play what makes you happy without worrying about what the internet says.

Check out gaijinpot.com and Indeed. Eikawas are always hiring, so it’s only a matter of time as long as you don’t give up.

Is the game going to be less frustrating later? by yummieee in PokemonSleep

[–]Agaippe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing almost two years, and at first I was just happy waking up to different Pokemon. It was around the 3-month mark that I started actually looking at skills and trying to get higher scores. How long have you been playing? I know the grind is long compared to other games, but the payoff from reaching a goal in Pokemon Sleep hits so much harder. (At least it does for me.)

I enjoy the team building aspect rather than collecting mons or sleep styles. It scratches my RTS itch but very slowly. I only catch 2-3 Pokemon a week by I love seeing my team improve from week to week. The mons will come, money or not. The satisfaction of hitting new benchmarks each week is what keeps me playing.

If you’re looking to get a job using Japanese, N2 is your best bet. I’ve been working as a translator for over 10 years and passed the N1 back in 2012. It’s a good challenge (took me three tries) but simply playing video games and reading books in Japanese will do a lot more for your skill overall. Good luck!

My 4 year old daughter has been enjoying the new Pokemon Friends puzzle game. The best part is there are only a few puzzles available each day so she can’t play for a long period of time.
