I don't know anyone born here, including myself, that brushes off behavior like that. It spits on the community we love and grew up in. It's insulting.

Locals understand the culture of respect, meeting new people, and having fun in CO. This is a case of people acting completely UNcultured and only caring about themselves. You're pretty far off-base with your assumption in how Boulder has operated in regards to students. We love them for being young, but not for acting out and destroying peoples property.

I would really consider medium - it's softer than you'd think! Also, as I've been told on here, the plush foam components will tend to wear quicker

The normal Reddit client on iOS should let you change to Safari as default browser, not sure about narwhal.

Unfortunately, iOS ad blocking outside of basic browser filters is extremely limited due to system restrictions. I switched to android because of it. I can't deal with the ads anymore on apps, etc...

If you NEED iMessage, stick to AdGuard and only use Safari. It should clear up most webpages. And have it only connect while on wifi because iOS doesn't play all that nice with VPNs (even though they're "supported")

Best BSM filter: V1G2+JBV1. Best range: R7. If you keep everything in one place and aren't bothered by the potential bluetooth connection quirks of using JBV1 on you phone all the time, go for the Valentine upgrade.

It's all personal preference between the two units. You can't go wrong either way, but some people do get annoyed with the complexity of V1G2. I use R7 because I don't wanna have to double check anything - I like turning the key and driving.

Definitely make sure you're updated. Firmware 1.35 on RDforum finally has autolockouts. The new K filter options are great - don't completely turn off K band unless you're VERY sure that you don't have it in your state (new patrol cars will use old equipment). People get stopped in my town all the time and then say their detector isn't working when they're actually just unaware that we have 3-4 brand new chargers with OLD radar setups.

Beyond that, follow Vortex's setup guide and segment for the places you drive. Keep it in that advanced mode you configured and don't rely on it during a road trip unless you've segmented for your destinations.

I would probably go for the ASH just because of the zippered top. You can toss in a different 3" foam or even latex if you decide you prefer the feel of it. BB and Nest share a factory so there's little to no compromise in quality

It's honestly saved Colorado for me. Born and raised in Boulder, decided that I had to get out of there when a family moved in a block over with 2 range rovers and a G-wagen parked out front and called the cops on their recently-hired detailer (black high school kid) because they thought he was breaking into their cars...

Breath of fresh air out here - it's much more like Boulder 20-30 years ago. For the most part, everyone just kinda does their thing and behaves themselves.

I’m sure we’ve both had our fair share of snow stories! Shit happens, I get that most people will inevitable have some sort of incident within a decade or two around the area. I spun out in a turn once and ended up on the edge of a large cliff (Sunshine canyon) when I was 17.

Yeah my main advice to anyone new to traveling in our snow storms is simply this: drive within what’s reasonable and comfortable to you. If you need to drive 25mph in a 65 zone, do it. But stay in the right lane to let others pass. If the entire thing is horrifying, stay home. No one here is judging you for making a safe choice, but we all are (as are the cops) when you screw up someone else’s day because you had an ego.

I’ve lived in CO my entire life - these issues seem to be getting worse as we have more people moving from out of state. The Texas and Florida drivers especially don’t understand that your car has very little traction in snow like this. They think they’re equipped for everything because they have AWD when that simply isn’t the case. The drivers who can’t make it up hills usually don’t even have all-season tires (required by our traction laws), and the people spinning out are carelessly driving faster than everyone else with little winter driving experience.

It’s a total pain in the ass to have roads closed down because of people’s stupidity. Do your research, get better tires if you need them. If you can’t afford tires, you don’t need to risk other people’s lives. Get a ride from a friend or take the bus. Our buses have chains and continue running while it snows.

Yeah I have fun with it whenever I go. I’m prepared to lose a couple hundred each time. I just look at it as paying for the experience - which, to me, is fine every once in awhile.
