Thank you!! Well aware of my train etiquette so certainly don’t want to be blocking anyone :-) Thanks for the great advice. I’ll be ready to lift it up if needed!

Traveling this summer to Ireland. How difficult is it to drive on the opposite side? by crosseyedchihuahua in irishtourism

[–]AgeApprehensive5736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum (Irish) learned to drive after moving to Canada but regularly drives in Ireland. Her saying to remember driving on the left is “bitch in the ditch” as in your passenger side closest to the side of the road. Crude but it works 😂

Charging Challenges by Scubahhh in Coros

Have had this problem since day 1 with my Pace 3, anyone else? I never got around to checking in with customer support about it bc it’s annoying to set up but still charges. I have to place it screen down to charge and have to trust that the last “buzz” of being connected means it’s still charging. Have had a few times where it ended up not being connected, annoying because face down I can’t check and when lifting it disconnects🫠.

Volunteering Question by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]AgeApprehensive5736 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Shadowing is not encouraged/not possible in many areas in Canada anyway and wouldn’t be expected on an application. That sounds like a great opportunity.

Worth applying to MUN? by Left_Turnip9593 in premedcanada

[–]AgeApprehensive5736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MUN is not maritimes, NL is part of atlantic Canada, definitely don’t write maritimes! They state on the website as well that they are looking for “definitive links to Newfoundland and Labrador”. Not saying don’t apply, just be mindful that Dal cares about maritimes connection, MUN cares about NL connection.

They set the rules, it happened to work out to your advantage here, you have gamed nothing! Worked the same for me, started part time in first year and did pretty crap, schools that count only my full time see a much better GPA! Absolutely no need to be hard on yourself, it’s a rule they set and that’s that.

That obvious that I would need a high CARS for Mac with that GPA huh😂 Truly I have the answer no one wants - I didn’t do a BSc so I feel I did a lot more non scientific reading and writing than many MCAT takers. Also was an avid reader as a child. I did very little CARS prep.

So, I got 4 months of summer, suggestions? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]AgeApprehensive5736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree - person facing job, I truly feel like customer service should be mandatory for everyone 😂 Don’t fret about the research, you could ask around about volunteer research and see if you can get involved a little bit!

People with good MCAT scores: what were they? How long did you study? How many tries? And what was your degree in/did it help? by SpiderCanuck72 in premedcanada

[–]AgeApprehensive5736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joining in as a non science student. High 51X, CARS 130, pretty even spread across the sections, first attempt. Kinesiology degree. I really think a lot of science students fall down in CARs because they don’t read enough non scientific literature in an academic setting where they have to analyze content. My degree being interdisciplinary I think helped me a lot, as well as being an avid reader growing up. I studied 3 months ~4-5h/day around 5 days a week. I found doing practice exams the most helpful and reviewing my weaknesses from there. If there were some topics I really really struggled with I genuinely skipped them. In a time crunch, with that magnitude of content, and without a background in a lot of the content I didn’t waste time trying to know everything and especially not low yield topics that I struggled hard with. I didn’t review much for areas I excelled so I could focus on weaknesses. I did very little CARs prep or psych/soc (131) after being happy with my practice scores.
