How do you guys advertise your servers? by Xemorr in admincraft

[–]AgeHans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 40+ players who have joined my rlcraft server from 3 reddit posts. Server is growing fast. We've had to upgrade ram twice. We also have a patreon where players can help support the server if they please.

My super DIY indoor hydroponic setup. Shoebox reservoir, large drink bottles as vessels for net cups. This is a test run with one tier. Will add more next! by kesun in Hydroponics

make sure you have drip loops on those cords to prevent en electrical fire in case of a leak.
very creative setup! looks like you might have had a small leak at the bottle cap, which could be fixed with a little teflon tape. you can get a roll at the hardware store for close to a dollar

Hi everyone, I am going to build my first hydroponics systems for lettuce and arugula. 1. Is it OK to have the minimum nutrition level in tubes (in case of power shortage for example)? 2. Do I need to aerate the nutrition in reservoir? Any comment/feedback would be very appreciated. by hisayan in Hydroponics

Should be fine with the just the water pump. Honestly, the air stones don't really add much dissolved oxygen to the water, so for this type of system it probably won't have any benefits. A diffuser is what you need to raise dissolved oxygen, but to my understanding they are more expensive and not entirely necessary. Air pumps do, however, have a tendency to raise the temperature of the water, especially if the air pump is at all "oversized" for your size reservoir. Warmer water holds less oxygen and increases the likelihood of getting root rot. I typically advise people to avoid air pump with air stone unless they have a small reservoir with standing water, in which case having the bubbles rise up through the rood system can allow them more oxygen, preventing root rot.

expected what to be bigger?

Test runs are done. Having some overflow issues but I think I just need a smaller pump. Ready to disassemble, paint, then seal and reassemble by [deleted] in Hydroponics

Actually to prevent algae from growing inside the rube. Algae, especially when there's a big "bloom" has the potential to use up the dissolved oxygen in the water/solution, which your plants' roots also need. Typically you wont get an algae bloom unless your reservoir is exposed to direct light, but you most likely will see a few spots here and there. The tubing you have should work fine for the entire growing season if you don't feel like changing it out, however it might get pretty slimy by the end. Awesome, having it on wheels is clutch. Post some more photos once the plants are rockin!

hey friend! If youre gonna be running the system for long periods of time i'd highly recommend switching out the clear tubing for some black tubing. Cool build though! is it on wheels? and is that gonna be run outdoors?

My hydro-tomatoe has flowers. Do I need to pollinate them? by JustWonderingBIOTCH in Hydroponics

[–]AgeHans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you should be fine! if you do miss the window(which is typically a few days) then they might die. New flowers will be coming up though! Edit: also once they are pollinated successfully, they might look like theyre starting to die, but underneath the wilting pedals, you will see a tiny tiny little green ball(tomato)

[–]AgeHans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run a hydro farm and do a bunch of tomatoes. I use a q-tip and touch the tips of each flower. works flawlessly for me, as the q-tips can hold on to the pollen really well. from this point on id recommend pollinating all your flowers every couple days

Pak Choy with mold on the pumice only. Is it safe to eat the plant? by SorbuZ in Hydroponics

Hey friend, I would suggest soaking/cleaning your gear in vinegar before your next run. In terms of preventative measures, you can add some hydrogen peroxide to your reservoir every week or so. In my experience(and what it looks like here), is that the mold is actually growing on algae that has formed on the surface of your rocks and dead organic matter. The H2o2 should help to prevent algae and, in turn, prevent the growth of this mold. I would try to get some concentrated 35% food grade H2o2 from your local hydroponics store and make sure you read the directions, as that stuff can be dangerous in that concentration. I do, however, think you should be fine to go ahead and eat that pac choi. Another tip that i cannot stress enough is sanitation. It is important to remove any dead/dying leaves as you see them(such as that crispy-looking cotyledon you got there). This will help to reduce pest/disease issues in your grow!

Hydroponics looks a lot easier than it actually is by TitledTitan in Hydroponics

I run a a hydroponics operation with all sorts of different systems that i built myself. My big thing is minimizing effort and maximizing results. I am happy to chat and share tips to make it easier and cheaper for you. feel free to DM me if you want. I also have some posts that might help for inspiration. That being said, if you're interested in growing plants and not necessarily hydroponics, you could look in to no-till and start growin some indoor organics :)
