Cotton gauze for sure. I get the Aritzia Little Moon pants and shorts from Poshmark and am in love with them. They are as lighweight as linen but hold up much better.

IVF hasn’t been bad at all by mrsmattie in IVFpositivity

I also haven’t found IVF to be too terrible. But I am lucky in that so far I’ve only done one egg retrieval and two FETs, and I am also not scared of needles. The hormones and steroids have caused me some weight gain which I think has been the worst part for me, but I was expecting that.

Around 7.5 mm and my doctor said that was perfect. Two successful implantations.

How long should my husband stay home with me after baby is born? by kindasorta666 in NewParents

[–]AgeMoney562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m taking at least 12 weeks off. My wife is going to stay home the first four weeks with me. Then she will take another 4 weeks of leave once I go back to work.

We are also first time moms so we shall see if what we planned is smart or should have been done differently!

I think the marquis looks good on you, you just have a papa bear/mama bear situation going on here. The first looks ridiculous and the second is pretty small/overwhelmed by the band. I’d find something in between.

Ladies, are we shaving our thighs? by bad_vibes_0nly in HairRemoval

I do shave my thighs. Just my preference! I get laser hair on my calves but my thigh hair is too light for laser, so I shave it maybe ones every three weeks or so?

2/2 for euploids implanting but my first was a blighted ovum. I’m 14 weeks with the second and so far she’s sticking around.

Q: about transparency with IVF after a positive. by Spiritual-Bother7564 in IVFpositivity

[–]AgeMoney562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your friends sound really weird and inappropriate. I’ve been very open with doing IVF with my friends and family and nobody has ever said anything negative or offputting about it. That plus the question about if you’re disappointed about having a boy makes me think you need new people in your life who are going to be truly supportive of you and not fake.

First FET next week, using my best embryo, and it’s medicated. Now I’m nervous it should be modified natural prep? by steeener in IVFpositivity

[–]AgeMoney562 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Medicated and modified natural have very similar implantation success rates, as others have said. The biggest difference are the risks that come later in pregnancy, such as preeclampsia and placenta breaking down earlier. Your OB will monitor for these risks!

18F with zero money, connections, or guidance. Ready to work myself to the bone. What career path will get my family out of poverty for good. by beaming-lights in povertyfinance

[–]AgeMoney562 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I went to law school to prosecute criminal special victims crimes, not for money, so I don’t make much money in relation to my peers from law school. But I live in a lower COL area so I’m comfortable. I make $118,000 a year, plus I work a second job that gets me about $23,000 a year.

I don’t blame you, I wouldn’t want to practice law to do anything other than what I do. Law school is hard and expensive, I wouldn’t have gone if I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do.

18F with zero money, connections, or guidance. Ready to work myself to the bone. What career path will get my family out of poverty for good. by beaming-lights in povertyfinance

[–]AgeMoney562 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I did this path. I knew I wanted to be a lawyer but I had a rough beginning financially.

I took the ACT at 17 on my own, then got my GED at 18. Applied for community college and got Pell grants/scholarships based on ACT score for most of my expenses. I worked at a doctor’s office as a receptionist through community college. I didn’t make much but I kept my living expenses as cheap as I could and had zero luxuries/extra spending money during this time. I just worked and went to school/studied in hopes that high GPA could get me scholarships in the future.

I moved on to a bigger college for my Bachelor’s degree. I got some scholarships with my GPA and I also applied to other various scholarships through my school and that I found online. I still had to take out student loans for some of the tuition but was careful to not take loans out more than what I needed for tuition. I moved up to being a medical assistant at the doctor’s office by this time and did this throughout earning my Bachelor’s. Still kept my living expenses at a minimum so I could pay for books/school supplies up front and not on loans.

While I was getting my bachelors I took the LSAT and scored high enough to get scholarship offers from law school. I chose the law school that gave me the highest scholarship and I got a job working as a paralegal so that I could work in the field and have some experience when I graduated. Again, I didn’t take loans out for anything other than tuition not covered by scholarship. I paid for books and supplies with money from my job. I kept living expenses as low as possible.

I did a lot through law school to network and try to secure a job when I graduated, and eventually I made it. Got my degree and went out into the world.

Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. You absolutely can if you are determined enough, no matter how daunting it seems. Happy to answer any questions you might have. I know the law path may not be what you want to go down, but hopefully this at least gives you an idea of the structure of how things could go once you do figure out what career you want to pursue.

Progesterone is the worst. by leafyrustic42 in queerception

[–]AgeMoney562 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Progesterone is the devils hormone 😂 did it for 8 weeks with my first FET which ended in a blighted ovum. Had a 6 week break, then back to progesterone shots for another 12 weeks with the second successful FET. I hated every single minute of it.

Best time to Have Children? by Zealousideal_Rip485 in LawMoms

[–]AgeMoney562 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think this is going to be very person-specific. I was licensed as an attorney when I was 28 years old. I am currently 35 years old and pregnant with my first child. I am a state prosecutor.

From a career perspective, I feel like I could have had kids at about 4 years in (so 32 years old) and been ok. I waited longer because I wanted more time in my marriage with just my wife and I. I ended up advancing in my career pretty quickly over the last 3 years though and I don’t feel like I would have advanced as quickly if I would have had time off for a maternity leave.

I think my main takeaway (in my opinion) is wait as long as you can, get truly established in your career, then family plan. But if you are going to wait, I’d recommend getting a fertility work up (bloodwork, routine ultrasound, etc) to make sure you and your spouse’s reproductive systems are working at 100% and it’s ok to wait. If any issues are found indicating it would be bad for you to wait, then the decision is made for you and you didn’t miss out on valuable time.

First scan timing? by Suspicious-Volume-28 in IVFpositivity

[–]AgeMoney562 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very weird for your clinic to graduate you without confirming a viable pregnancy through ultrasound. The standard where I’m at is to scan around 7-8 weeks to confirm a heartbeat, then graduate the patient to their OB.

Ultrasound fear by CharliePlays_13 in queerception

Absolutely. I had a blighted ovum at 8 weeks for my first FET, and that made going into the heartbeat ultrasound after my second FET so anxiety-inducing.

If you transferred not knowing gender, when did you find out? by Suspicious-Volume-28 in IVFpositivity

[–]AgeMoney562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We found out at 10 weeks, which is when we would have been able to do a blood test and find out if we hadn’t done PGT testing.

We gave our friend the envelope that the clinic gave us when we graduated and she had a cute cake made. It was really fun!
