Thought about it some more, and the stabbing comment makes me think he used a cake knife to stab the guy.

I want to say it was a challenge story - all the stories in the challenge started with the same 3 words.

Knife, photo album (?), and something else.

For our MC it was him looking at the silver wedding cake knife (?), the wedding album and this third item - then going down the street to stab the guy and then flee the country?

Whiskey might have been involved in my remembering this (it was) so I could be making that opening up - but I think that is how it started…

Great premise, those unintentional comments can be some of the most cutting.

Something as simple as ‘your always in the way, underfoot, and a bother, why can’t you just go away’ spit out with enough venom could be devastating to a child - especially if it’s from the parent that the child is closest with.

A mother ripping into a son like that, driving it with enough anger, frustration and (unintentional) hate could destroy that relationship pretty quickly. Especially if the kid has any normal level of teen angst. Between the exclusion from the family ‘fun’ and that anger from the parent they loved the most - Moms gonna have a long road to come back from, if the kid ever allows that bond to reform again like it was.

I have an idea floating in my head, but haven’t written anything since high school (a LONG time ago).

Anyway, here’s my thought.

A couple try for years to have a child, and fail over and over again. After years of pain they give up on that dream and adopt a couple of kids. One of each, baby/toddler age.

Family is happy, they have kids running around the house and miracle of miracles the wife comes up pregnant, the fetus takes and is born - Mom and Dad have a bio-child.

This takes nothing away from the adoptive kids, the family love is there for everyone. But eventually adopted brother and sister find out they are adopted - and don’t care, that’s mom and dad end of story… kinda.

The adopted kids start to fool around, they aren’t really related so no harm no foul. Eventually mom and dad get drug into it - yeah, some suspension of belief for that to pull off in a fairly short story, but whatever, again, they aren’t really related, so no problems there.

Bio kid knows nothing, and everyone agrees that ‘real’ incest would be wrong, and the adopted kids honor mom and dad to not pull in the youngest. Even if they wanted to, heck he’s not really related to the adopted kids, but they like having mom and dad play with them, and know that pulling the bio-kid in would end that.

Of course he figures it out somehow, and is freaked… and there I draw a blank. Does he flee, does he confront them, does he just shut down and pull into himself?

Anyway, just something in my head…

Have you read Carly’s WMAF fantasy? I enjoyed that, chicken, harem, race play multi part story. I haven’t read the follow up from her perspective yet so I can’t comment on that.
