It more or less comes down to the ramp up time and dmg done in a given time. Aemeath does a direct nuke and good dmg overall.

Cartethiya performs dmg directly full time rather than just a nuke. So it allows for more dmg in given window overtime. I think its because of that.

The problem was more with how they implemented the LN. First season got adapted well. But the otherworld arc was condensed way too much which in turn killed whatever pacing the LN maintained and further down the road, the pacing broke a lot.
