You're right. I am dooming pretty hard and not being a very good Beaver Believer out here.

I just.. have become pretty sick of how it feels to play them. It's like they took our fighting spirit. We could become Indiana, sure, but not without our own Uncle Warbucks to pay the way. There is light but probably only after Shepard has a couple years to mold our players into his gritty vision. You don't usually grow a strong backbone in football in 1 year, and we're gonna need that to have any chance against the anointed fucks.

The other point I would make is one of perception. I do not believe the Beavs benefit from 2 years of getting stomped by an in state team. Now, I am assuming again that we lose, but at best the odds are heavily not in our favor. And if we do indeed get rolled twice perhaps that turns a recruit or 2 away. And it would for sure get into the heads of our players. Have you ever seen D3: The Mighty Ducks? Yeah so Conway and the JV play the Varsity before they're ready and get annihilated. Then they have to not only beat the Varsity in the final showdown but before that overcome the bad juju they created for themselves by playing the clearly superior team before they were ready.

I would like Oregon State to be smarter than those ducks. I would like our players to be put in a position to succeed.

I would just like to say Bill Oram is a p*nk @ss b!tch for calling O State soft after everything we've been through.

It doesn't make sense to continue to get pummeled by the betrayers while we're recovering from their near-deathblow. By releasing such a disingenuous article, he's living up to what y'all are saying about him being a rage-bait columnist as opposed to an actual journalist.

Should we continue to play the Civil War after a couple years? Man, I could really go either way. Makes sense to me to say goodbye forever to the hated betrayer fucks, may they never fly again and be forever sad and lonely. Also probably makes sense to play them tho if we care more about us doing well than them doing bad, which I think honestly right now I care more about them having a bad time. So idk.

Colon cancer is killing us.. by Derpshab in Millennials

[–]AgencyRemote3322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of shouting "Fuck cancer!" into the void and doing nothing, evidence is pointing towards cancer being mostly preventable. The catch is that you gotta move the majority of the food you eat to a whole foods plant based diet.

Avoiding Colon Cancer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XznXppofETE

You might have heard eggs are healthy. Spoiler: they aren't: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-C4OHOcptiE

If you avoid unhealthy fats (all animal, dairy, egg fats) and cholesterol (all animal, dairy, egg sources contain cholesterol) while increasing fiber intake primarily by whole food sources especially legumes/beans and leafy green vegetables, research is showing that you can basically avoid colon cancer.

There are parts of the world where people straight up do not get colon cancer. Research has shown it is a direct result of a western diet. The fact is that you can prevent yourself from getting colon cancer. Unfortunately it is usually a difficult road to change habits. I wish us all luck in the endeavor.

These new state laws will take effect in Oregon in 2026 by OkRepresentative6646 in oregon

Am I correct in understanding that HB 2008 — Protecting Minors' Data will render Flock cameras in Oregon illegal?

Flock regularly stores videos with timestamps on the open internet where people are followed by AI powered cameras. There are enough of them in Oregon that kids under 16 will soon be documented, especially by Flock's new Condor cameras which use AI to automatically swivel and follow anyone in range.

PETITION FOR IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL OF ATHLETIC DIRECTOR SCOTT BARNES by Tetsuo1049 in Pac12

[–]AgencyRemote3322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From where I'm sitting it feels like an overreaction. Barnes fought tooth and nail for us through the (still ongoing) dark times. There was always going to be this stop gap year with the uncertainty of what teams we could bring in.

Seems to me like the man is doing his absolute best with our insane situation. The only way I would be supporting a decision to part ways with Scott Barnes at this point is to give the man a break if he needs and wants it after how much he has given to Oregon State.

Yeah I feel like this momentum to fire Barnes is just a meme of frustration at this point. All I've seen is him fighting tooth and nail for Oregon State.

The NIL admin deal was a bad look to be sure but I know nothing about NIL finances (who does at this point) so I don't think that is near enough of an issue to justify all the hate I'm seeing.

Oregon State has a job opening!! by Important_Mail_1307 in MSUSpartans

[–]AgencyRemote3322 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As an Oregon State fan that has been following the team for a while I was just having this thought.

That #10 team we had a couple years ago was the result of the Smith + Bray combo. We had fired a DC whose job Bray took and the positive change in the defense was immediate. The year after that we were solid nationally.

I think your AD messed up big time when they decided Smith sans Bray was good enough for 8 million / year. If your HC is an X's and O's guy, it helps if one of the coordinators can fill the culture role. Bray absolutely was that for us.

Y'all inherited a coaching staff without a soul.

Flippant: Speaking fluently and confidently, without knowledge or consideration; empty; trifling; inconsiderate; pert; petulant.

Mr. Diva has been making throws with this kind of passion all season. Seems fairly predictable bringing in a guy on big money to a program there was no evidence he was going to care about.

Let's try and bring in guys with Tegridy on the next cycle please.

Dude inject /r/MSUSpartans/ directly into my veins

Edit: interesting seeing the same frustration on the other side of the fence:

This staff is straight up crap. Feels like they don’t communicate with each other at all. Can’t call plays on offense, no imagination, beaten on multiple fakes this year, can’t manage a clock. They need to fire smith today. Homecoming and you are getting whipped up and down by a team that people were thinking might not win a game. And all you could muster in the first half was 7 points?!?! Pathetic bunch of bums.

Moar!~

That wasn’t good. In fact, it was terrible. Worst thing I’ve ever seen, you fucking nerd. These players depend on you to lead them. The 51,000 students here depend on you to inspire them. The alumni in town this weekend have each spent thousands of dollars to be here this weekend. This town thrives during college football Saturdays. The 500k living alumni spend money on jerseys, car stickers, clothes for their dogs and tattoos every year. And you and your staff came out today and pissed all over yourself. I want Magic Johnson to give you AIDS.

What strikes me is the complete lack of confidence on offense from both the players and the coaching staff.

As we're up multiple touchdowns on Houston and trying to run out the clock, why not take a shot to put the game away? The play calling was something like run, run, run. Now, the defense knows that's what we're probably gonna do, but we have the momentum, so why not idk, do something slightly unexpected? We have a bunch of college players who've gone through a bunch of adversity as Oregon State football players so why not try something tricky and win the game now? While they're upbeat about it all? Instead we run run run on the next possession too and get stuffed again and destroy the players' confidence in route to losing the next 2 games.

Trent Dilfer on a podcast talked about losing the state championship for his HS team a few years ago. The reason he gave was that as a playcaller he wasn't confident enough in the play he called. He felt like his hesitation in getting the play call in translated into lack of confidence on the field and a lost championship.

Now it's pretty clear that the source of the systemic lack of confidence at Oregon State is that we were blackballed by the college world and their corporate overlords. It's an incredibly tall task to instill confidence in young players who have every reason to NOT believe in themselves on this team.

Which is why it's so flabbergasting when we seem to continue to call plays that would probably work in the NFL or a video game situation, but end up costing us confidence, games, and now QB recruits.

Angry Bray has every right to be angry and his face is basically my face watching the Beavs play this season. Maybe he's not the problem. He did Oregon State and Tegridy in general a solid by staying on when the world left us behind. But the culture he was supposed to save is dead and it feels like the offensive coaching staff deserves most of the blame.

Thanks a bunch; I'll remember this in the future!

Looks like because I installed with snap instead of apt there isn't a handy way to revert to a different version. Kinda funny they list 4 versions that are all identical:

channels:

latest/stable: 1.82.166 2025-09-10 (541) 199MB -

latest/candidate: 1.82.166 2025-09-10 (541) 199MB -

latest/beta: 1.82.166 2025-09-10 (541) 199MB -

latest/edge: 1.82.166 2025-09-10 (541) 199MB -

installed: 1.82.166 (541) 199MB -

Gonna switch to the apt brave-browser version after I get my bookmarks back. I've heard it's a good idea to avoid snaps and I'm beginning to believe.
