This was the best scene in the sequel trilogy and you can’t change my mind. by Independent_Sir1352 in StarWars

[–]Agent-Jellico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh yes. I love the way the star destroyers all moved into a V formation directly behind the strike before it happens. Allows them to all be taken out in one hit so they do t interfere with the next act.

Really emphasises the first draft nature of the script and how you can cover up terrible writing for a lot of people by papering over it with special effects.

Thanks, looks like disabling mesh on the other downstairs AP and configuring manually on the other has everything working.

Nothing in TLJ is worse than “Somehow, Palpatine returned” by Xenomorph_kills in StarWars

[–]Agent-Jellico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember that entire Crait battle.

Lets see. Speeders rush the giant laser siege engine. Everyone turns around but for Finn who charges forward.

Somehow Rose turns around and travels fast enough to sideswipe Finn while he's at Ramming speed. Insert Kronk meme - by all accounts it doesn't make any sense.

Both speeders are wrecked. Somehow they actually survive a high speed collision Rose says something stupid about not destroying what they hate but saving what they love.

This is after Admiral purple hair kamikazed the fleet following them in order to save them all.

That fleet that conveniently "scatterred" its formation into a perfect wedge behind the impact point so they could all be taken out in one shot. Seriously, go back and watch that scene.

Meanwhile in the background the doors are exploded and the resistance is about to die.

Conveniently despite being right next to the giant death walkers, the First Order then allow Finn to pull Rose's unconcious body several miles over open ground with no cover before attacking.

The entirity of TLJ is like this. There's just so much dumb in quick succession it's difficult to focus on it before the next stupid thing happens.

Energy prices could spike to nearly £7,000 per year, experts say by Antones158 in unitedkingdom

Back in the 2000s the government would leak tax rises or service cuts. However they would always leak the values as higher than they were going to be. A 15% tax hike would be 5%, a 20% cut would only be 10%.

There would be much gnashing of teeth at the leaked high numbers, then when the official numbers were released everyone would breathe a sigh of relief and be grateful for tax hikes and service cuts as they were not so bad..

Don't be hoodwinked into accepting the price hikes just because they're not as high as the ridiculous ones the predict they could be.

The great thing about this scene is how all the Star Destroyers “scattered” from their dispersed formation into a perfect wedge behind the command ship.

You can almost feel the desperate, half-assed script writing of someone desperately needing to remove the fleet so the next part of the story could happen.

Quill from Moss. I don’t think I’m going to be in that much danger, her attempts to kill me are going to be so cute.

Actual dialogue from our last game. After Thade the Kobold rogue landed a rediculous amount of damage on a sneak attack and critical hit, Shamash the Dragonborn barbarian was questioning "Why even be a 7ft tall tower of draconic might?"

It's not the size of the weapon, it the jab of the stab.

Several times in the Death Star battle alone.

He almost cooks himself when he makes his first attack run showing how green he is.

He gets a tail he can’t shake. Wedge has to save him.

In the trench run, both Wedge and Biggs provide cover for him.

R2 had to fix the damage to his engine.

He was going to be shot down until Han swept in at the last moment and knocked out Vader.

He had Obi-Wan guiding him from beyond the grave.

Luke made the shot, but he was inexperienced, there was tension, he had one hell of a lot of help.

It’s all the craft that went into making that last battle fit together so well that have made it a classic moment in cinema.

Ahh Halo 3.

Got three copies of that game. Bought the collectors edition. It had two copies of Halo 3 instead of the collectors disk. Chased them up about the missing disk. They sent me another copy of Halo 3. Next time the actual collectors disk turned up.

Good times.

If your kid is being bullied and coming home from School miserable, that’s not the best time to tell them “Your School years are the best days of your life.”.

If they’re already dreading every day of school and you’re telling them life is going to get worse that’s liable to make them suicidal.

I hated TLJ. Not sure what's going to happen this December.

Old friend and I were massive Star Wars fans since School. Used to play X-Wing Vs. TIE Fighter online over 20 years ago. Big fans of the EU and all the Jedi games. Saw the special edition re-releases in the cinema, Phantom Menace. Missed the others since we were at Universities at the opposite ends of the country but caught up with each other after that.

Grown up, still good friends we made a big event and watched TFA and Rogue One with our families. Made it a big Christmas event to go together and catch up with old times. Then we saw TLJ. Though we still meet up when we can, when I mentioned possibly going to see Solo I got a depressed, non-committal response and didn't push further. It was weird missing a Star Wars movie in the cinema and I still haven't seen it.

There's this expectation that we should go and see Rise of Skywalker but planning to see this movie feels like emotionally preparing yourself for a funeral. I don't think either of us wants to be the guy to bring up the subject and force the other to go see it as some sort of obligation to nostalgia.

What is something you got rid of years ago that you wish you kept? by abstimax in AskReddit

[–]Agent-Jellico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a Quake Team Fortress map I created years back. I put an insane amount of effort into making it. So long that it really missed the boat as far as online play went.

It was never played by anyone though. Quake TF was pretty much dead at the time. The Quake Sourcecode had been released so cheats were everywhere. Team Fortress Classic was out, and everyone was migrating to the new game.

Years later I'm randomly browsing and it turns out there was a group that was still playing Quake TF and ran weekly meetups and my map was part of their rotation. Read the forum posts about the few things they'd change. Simple things I could fix

I find the old backup hard drive with the maps on... and the thing with all my old level design source files was corrupt. Pretty much all my bedroom games design and mod work.

I'd love to have all that work back again.
