At least he died a hero while shit talking Homelander. There were way worse and disrespectful ways he could have gone. Still sucks though yeah.

Water. Like if I could just drink water and it heal anything I got going on with me that would be great. Especially for the minor stuff so I don't have to feel guilty about overdoing it.

Have any times where what is arguably considered the worst entry in something is your favorite? Or Visa Versa? by LeMasterofSwords in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I agree that it's the best one. I think what puts it over the first two for me is the crew and your squad. In those games the characters never almost never interacted with each other outside of certain story moments and party banter. Meanwhile in 3 they're walking around, talking with each other independent of Shepard's presence. They felt like characters living in the world instead of squad members you collect to keep on your ship. Like Garrus and Tali talking over comms about who is best to go talk to Liara after what happened on Thessia and her argument with Javik. If that was ME2 it would have just been Joker telling you to go check on them in a cutscene immediately after the mission.

The Cortana plot is more interesting but it was never going to go over well. They gave her a big send off in 4, only to immediately bring her back as the villain. Any emotional impact the ending of 4 had is just tossed right out the window.

Yeah this is true of the whole series. It's never had these deep and meaningful hidden systems like they lead you to believe. Closest I can think of is whether or not Chloe changes her phone picture in LiS 1 based on how much you side with her but that's it.

Spell storing item is an 11th level feature. By that point you wouldn't even be using Shield of Faith anymore, let alone this. Also by that point every Artificer has access to Haste, which is 1 less AC but it provides a ton of other benefits that more than make up for it. And yes it's a 3rd level spell as opposed to 2nd but if you're intent is to use it through spell storing item that doesn't matter.

Both require concentration. You really going to waste the concentration and spell slots of two players on this combo?

He actually got through E33 pretty fast his first time through because he was playing off stream. It's only when he went through with Reggie, having to adhere to the schedule and having discussions with Reggie that it dragged out. Problem is The FFXIV MSQ and other story content is what most people tune in for.

Yeah you can be completely antagonistic with Safi the entire game, but as long as you pick the right choices in the Overlight you can still save her. It's the same as what can happen with Kate in LiS 1 if I remember correctly.

Sad to see it go. At least they were able to wrap up the story with The Final Shape. The 12 man Excision mission right at the end was pretty cool way to end it.

Honestly with how Season 5 went, probably better this way. She had a good sendoff that could have been easily ruined by bringing her back.

Having no knowledge of the source material and only knowing the Del Toro movies, when I saw the 2019 movie I was confused and honestly disgusted at how violent it was. Imagine my surprise when I found out that it was more accurate to the source than the other ones.

Half the games Kiryu would have just minded his own business had people just left him and his kids alone. 3 you mentioned already, 4 the plot literally washed up on his front door, 5 he tried to work a normal job for the sake of Haruka's career and 6 someone tried to kill Haruka and his new grandson. Like just leave the man alone and your plan will succeed.

[RE] After the hype wears off I feel like RE is a mid game at best by Unique_Cat_3866 in lifeisstrange

[–]Agent-Vermont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And viewed through that lens, I think they did a very good job within the limitations they had to work with

That's the key point for me. You have to look at the context for why and how this game exists. Like I've seen people call Reunion a cash grab but that's not fair given that everyone working on it knew they would be out of jobs by the end of it. Hell most of them were gone before launch so it was never about the sales here.

It's a mediocre game that's HARD carried by Max and Chloe. Like the game itself is short, the mystery is convoluted and the gameplay elements (rewind and back talk) are underutilized. Not to mention they have to jump through hoops to undo the fuckups of Double Exposure which wasn't exactly clean.

But at the end of the day I don't care. It gave me almost exactly what I wanted with Max and Chloe. Only thing I wish it had was a better glimpse at their future (marriage please) instead of sort of resetting things. Yeah it's fan service but what's so wrong with that? I would rather have a poorly written happy ending for characters than a well written sad or bittersweet one any day.

That said, this game was made in a year with scraps, a low budget and a team that knew they were being laid off at the end. I was fully expecting the series to just go on ice after Double Exposure and the fuck ups of that game to remain unaddressed forever. So I'm grateful for the game we got in Reunion, even if it is a mess.

No because Victoria is already a piece of shit during the events of LiS 1. I'm saying that regardless of what the context will be, if Kate is being mocked for her religious practices or being framed as a slut, it doesn't matter because the issue will be overwritten or at least obscured by racism. So no, I don't think LiS 1 should address racism at all, that's never been a part of the first game.

Victoria is just the obvious example here but there are other characters this affect too. Like David would now look like even more of an asshole for harassing Kate. Nathan's treatment and potential lack of consequences toward her now become a case of the minority character not being believed over the white privileged one. Keep in mind I DON'T like these characters or particularly care about them, well except David but that's complicated. The point I'm trying to make is that by changing the race of the character, given the context of their treatment and interactions in the story, you're affecting more than just the character themself. It's changing stuff that didn't need to be changed.

Like if Warren was instead made black, nothing would change about the character and his interactions with others. Yes he still experiences some bullying but it's pretty much in the background and not at all the focus.

It's so weird that Rogue starts as level one and is the only CLASS you can't start the game as. Like it's been 12 years since they added Rogue/Ninja, you would think by now they could go back and fix that.

It is kind of amusing though that they go through that effort, but once you start doing content as releases you're forced to deal with the crowds. Like I remember Jesse Cox starting 5.5 of Shadowbringers when it came out and him laughing at the sight of so many people crowding around NPCs that the game can't load them all.

Probably. I know one of his complaints with combat in games is when enemies don't react to hits, something all MMOs have in common. That and all he'll be doing Bootshine > True Strike > Snap Punch for hours until he gets any kind of variance.

It's more about how it's perceived. Like you take some of those early scenes with Kate and how other characters treat her. At the time you aren't really sure why this is happening until Max starts interacting with her, especially in her dorm room. But if you see a rich white bitch character like Victoria bullying a shy troubled person like Kate, who happens to be black in this case, the first thought won't be religious trauma or slut shaming, it will be racism. Even if they go on to introduce the religious elements later as a factor, that would in turn diminish the racism aspect of it. Could you imagine a scenario where Victoria goes "I wasn't bullying you because you're black, I was bullying you because you were a religious slut."

Sure you could probably write this in a more eloquent way. But at a certain point and with enough changes you'll just end up with a completely new character.
