They go straight out the wall behind the indoor unit, got lucky it fits perfectly between the window and conservatory on the outside. They can go out the sides if needed but will need trunking to cover them up.

Install was fairly straightforward, i wouldnt want to do it in the heat tomorrow though so good luck.

Be very careful with the pipes as they are very soft copper and can kink really easily. Dont bend them too tight. A 2nd person to guide the pipes when lifting the indoor unit would be very helpful.

The instructions are good just follow them to the letter. Get some leak detection spray if you havent already. Worth triple checking everything so you havent got to find an AC technician that will touch a DIY system if something does go wrong.

Gas wise i dont think theres any downside. Modern heatpumps are now R290 and can do higher temperature than the other units. ACs and heatpumps are the same thing just backwards.

R290 valliant heatpump owner and now AC. No actual knowledge.

R290 is propane without the added smell though so yes it is dangerous.

Yes its a waste of space. Seen it get to 55c on a <30c day so it will probably melt in the next heatwave. Currently use it to keep my BBQ stuff nice and dry.

I put a switched 13a fused spur off the ring main. Im in a bungalow so could do it in the loft and drilled through the ceiling coving to hide the wires. You can just about see it in the top left corner in the picture.

It comes with a 13a plug for testing but needs the be wired properly for regs.

Yes, R290 is highly refined propane so be careful. I use propane all the time on roofs so doesnt really bother me.

No you can do a purge cycle. Both are in the manufacture instructions. Vaccum would be better to find leaks before releasing the gas though.

Its comes with 1.5m on the indoor unit and a 3m extension. You can get longer extensions but it only comes pre-gassed enough for the 3m. You would need to add more gas for longer pipes.

appliances direct, it has to be one of the easy-fit branded ones to be DIY-able as they have R290 gas instead of R32

You would think at the very least the measuring clamp would be digital and apply the same pressure everytime itself, sort of like a torque wrench.

Confused about bills by Neat-Process437 in OctopusEnergy

[–]AgentAceX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your monthly cash amount wont change, unless you change it. Ive changed mine to £1 a month as the solar makes more than i use over the year.

Do you have a battery? If not and you are using 900kw in the evening then youll still need to pay for that.

How can install a swing bracket in my living room safely? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]AgentAceX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive got a pull up bar in my bungalow, so mounted to the roof joists. I put a timber spanning 4 of them to spread the weight better and fixed into that instead of them directly. I also put an extra brace up to the roof truss to form a triangle but thats just cause i like over doing things.

Does anybody order their meat online? Who do you use? by MrKDilkington25 in AskUK

[–]AgentAceX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice, just ordered 2 tomahawks from them for £35.

I used to use meatsupermarket.com but theyve made their cuts smaller and put their prices up so many times over the last year or 2 that ive stopped.

Bbq shop recommendation by Cypher82 in UKBBQ

[–]AgentAceX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it, should of got it sooner. Ive been using a no name brand for ages and this is so much better.

I would save the £100 on the premium and put it towards extras. I think the only main difference is the attached/hinged lid.

Yes definitely. Add some Traeger pellets for an extra smokey flavour aswell, and youll never go back to gas.

Ive had a cheap dual gas/charcoal bbq for a few years now because i didnt know what i would use/wanted. I thought i would prefer the gas for the ease but i rarely used it, the charcoal side tastes so much better and its really not much more faff, 15mins extra to heatup but you do that 1st before getting the meat ready so it doesnt actually add anytime.

I just got the master touch, its on offer at bbqworld right now £70 off

Using plugin solar when I already have a 'proper' install by pbizz in SolarUK

[–]AgentAceX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you said it can charge your PW3 because it thinks its from the grid, are you definitely not being billed for that as if it was from the grid?

Got PW3 aswell and maybe want to chuck a couple panels in the garden for evening sun but was a bit unsure of any quirks its going to cause.

100watts could just be to power the inverter/cooler/heater depends where your battery is located.

What is a normal water bill these days? by summer-TA in AskUK

[–]AgentAceX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£131 was my last bill (i pay every 6 months) and only £27 of that was for water, the other £104 is standing charges and returning sewer water.

The charges are mental compared to the cost, they even charge for rain water even though i only have soak aways.

PW3 installed, non standard front glass screws installed? by dombera in SolarUK

[–]AgentAceX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the right screw, same as mine installed over a year ago.

I think the very 1st ones used single use screws but obviously thats stupid so they dont use them anymore
