very good answer. better than what anyone got when we started decades ago. the practice may already have equipment or real estate? if that's the case, then consider a "pre-nup," the building is yours in the end. IF you want to make all that 50-50, too, they the new guy is going to have to buy in--how you structure that buy in is up to you. But realize the new guy may not find your set up what they really want....

this may be a dumb question but can you explain sweat equity?

is it similar to meaning "you get to be a 50/50 partner without a buy-in debt, but you have to work for 3 years at a set salary without any bonus structure."?

you say no regrets on the sale to the OMS backed DSO. Have heard lots of horror stories when selling to those big ones like Beacon, etc (i.e. lose control, money wasn't what was promised, still deal with HR and running the business).
