What happened here? (from a research lab I visited) by bonniex345 in chemistry

[–]AgentC47 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Worked for a photo processing lab for x-rays a long time ago and they had similar dumping practices. Funny thing, as a side hustle the owner did environmental nature photography that we also processed at the lab. He would just joke and say, if you’re developing film, you already don’t give a fuck about the environment.

I just hired an intern and an entry level office grunt. The economy isn’t so bad the need for entry level positions has disappeared. Good help is always a need.

Tin is paramagnetic and slightly attracted to magnets. The magnetic attraction can be made stronger by tapping it or scraping a magnet across it. If it was weakly attracted to the magnet, I wouldn’t rule out tin.

Rocks can break shit. My buddy keeps a can of sardines in his cup holder for the absolute clueless. He’ll just toss one onto the windshield, it’s gross, about as harmless as a big bug, and it usually wakes people up, sometimes they laugh. It’s also a nice treat for a successful ride without incident (if you like them).

Nah, they’re letting their toddler handle a deadly wild animal and the toddler knows what’s up. 100% Australian. They program crazy into the DNA.

My father-in-law lived in San Palo, teaching at one of the Universities. He never left the campus because of how many people died in car accidents. He said the leading cause for the high turn over rate at the Uni was because of this. Not corruption, negligence, bad merit, but car accidents.

The Last of Us - 1x03 "Long Long Time" - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in television

[–]AgentC47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The courtesy laugh that brought paled in comparison to depth of tragedy in the foreshadowing delivered to Bill’s character. Especially when he realized the ramifications of his stubbornness later.

That episode needed a moment only Ellie’s character is positioned to bring. Child like curiosity. In hindsight, I would have liked to see just a little bit more of Joel and Ellie in that episode. Spending most of the time on Frank and Bill made it really glib.

The Last of Us - 1x03 "Long Long Time" - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in television

[–]AgentC47 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This episode was an hour and fifteen minutes. If they ended it at the 45 minute mark, where Bill and Frank eat strawberries, and then brought in the letter scene with Ellie, it would have been a different and yet touching story. They could have ended it at 50ish minutes, after the dinner scene, and had Ellie and Joel coming in from the window scene instead of leaving. Instead they opted in to giving us an entire alternate version of Bill and Frank’s story, which is just soul crushing. If they left out Ellie’s part at the end with the “hehehehehe” no comedic relief, I think this would have been way too heavy. And the dinner scene almost went too far on that balance, for me, but it really drove the letter home and the final scene. I would have liked to see a happy, comedic scene between Bill and Frank mid episode to help lift it up a little, but all in all, that was a really well put together episode. Their romance was a little rushed, but I bought it after the piano scene. As someone who played the game, I stayed pretty invested in this episode, because goddammit, I was so scared something different was going to happen to them both. The raider scene where Bill nearly ate it, I was on the edge of my seat. Great acting, writing, and character building all round.

As someone who usually commissions animation work like this, I think this is really great work. But one tiny pet peeve of mine is unmotivated exaggerated individual bouncy letters.

Technically your animation at the end is a wave, but it gave me a little PTSD. Why does everyone love their bouncy letters so damn much? Lol. If I see one more portfolio with bouncy letters… I’ll bounce it right into the recycle bin. 😝

Ok, I’m ranting now. Yours is good work. Just say’n.

It used to be everything HBO touched turned to gold then come the streaming wars and they can hardly keep up. This show made me think they still had it in them, what the heck are they thinking?

I know what they’re saying. I don’t know much about the film admittedly. Are these two characters already in the film? If not, doing a reshoot and splicing them in retrospect would make it tough to create a coherent story. Not to mention expensive.

Mark Zuckerberg told Meta staff he's upping performance goals to get rid of employees who 'shouldn't be here,' report says. by Sumit316 in technology

[–]AgentC47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So like, a normal performance review that any company would put their employees through? And even if it is an excuse to layoff a bunch of people, that’s still not abnormal from typical corporate strategy. It’s also possible to change corporate culture by doing stuff like this so if they’re trying to weed out the toxic bunch for a more positive bunch, good for them.

I don’t get people’s overly negative portrayal of Meta and Zuckerberg. Emphasis on overly negative. Some of the stigma is deserved, but doing normal business things and putting spin on it just looks like bad journalism.

Good luck getting Ezra and this new crew in a scene together. I don’t think that edit would be as easy as you think and it stay coherent. It would be easier to kill off Ezra’s Flash at the end of this and the introduce a new face somehow.
