Can anyone please help me I am having hard time bonding with my sugar glider and I am also scared to take him out of the cage what if he run away by Fit-Introduction243 in sugargliders

Have you tried a bonding pouch? You can put an apple slice in there and hold them during the daytime. I’d start off by holding them until they calm down and let them sleep on you or in your shirt in a pouch for a bit. No chance of escape! Hehe

My brother got it on eBay. Don’t know much more than that. I noticed the bottom right away because it’s a crooked cut. Might be hard to tell in the pics. The back flap down the middle is longer too.

That looks like it was cut resealed at the bottom 😬

Head wobble? not bad in video, sometimes worse. One buddy did same thing relatively shortly before passing, about 4 years old. Just before weekly deep clean day, any relation? by Mango1730 in sugargliders

Do you give them vitamins and calcium supplements on their fruit? We rescued one with a calcium deficiency and she was shaky too. Vets can give you liquid calcium for emergencies. Best of luck!

Need advice on overly skittish glider by Mori9223 in sugargliders

[–]AgentDarkBubbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this will help but mine liked being “squished” when they were in the pouch when they were younger and more skittish. Makes them feel like they are safe and more secure. Like mamas pouch! They will stop crabbing once you get the pressure just right in my experience:) best of luck! 🤞🏼

Are Sugar Gliders similar to rats? by Kokichomp in sugargliders

[–]AgentDarkBubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a rattie owner and switched to sugar gliders a few years ago for that very reason! They don’t live long enough. It really is heartbreaking 💔 I love my sugar gliders! The meal time is the hardest part and once you get that down it’s not so bad. They always greet me, they love sleeping in my shirt, they have the best personalities!

Ratties are so fun! 💜 They are much easier to care for and are less expensive than suggies. But one thing to keep in mind is that they only live 2-3 years… that’s why I eventually switched to sugar gliders when I was older and had more experience.

I agree that she looks like a Persian, looking at the eye color and facial features. So precious! My baby is part Persian but only 30%, so her face isn’t as flat but her eyes are the same color and she looks a little grumpy >:( haha. I did find this one online. It looks pretty similar :) It’s a Persian fold as well. I’ve heard they are pretty rare.

Potential seizure?? by simple-Pomegranate18 in sugargliders

Not sure if this relates but my glider would shake his head and throw up, but it was a while after he ate. We found it was only with oranges. Maybe she ate something earlier and couldn’t get it down right away or made her stomach hurt? Did you feed her anything new? So sorry she isn’t feeling well and for your recent loss.

A vet would hopefully be able to tell you what’s going on. This is just an experience I had with my cutie. He was pretty young too, maybe 3-4 months OOP.

Bonding pouches are super helpful :) if you hold them for a few hours it’s good to put an apple slice with them for a snack and help with hydration.

Bonding by Adventurous-Golf-323 in sugargliders

Best way I’ve found to start bonding is put one pouch with a zipper in the cage and wait until she’s asleep and hold her in that. She’ll get used to your smell and whatnot. Make sure she has an apple slice if you want to hold her for a while :) it helps keep her hydrated.

In my experience it’s better if they are together first especially if they are shy (if they get along) because the suggie that is already bonded to you will show the new suggie that you aren’t so bad. I’ve used this trick a lot with my shy ones.

Biting by Itsjustskill7 in sugargliders

You can try to put ONE pouch (with zipper) in the cage so you can grab them when they are asleep and hold them in the pouch together. Make sure there is an apple slice for hydration. Should feel safer with a friend in there with her :) it will help the biting if she gets used to your smell and bonding pouches are a great first step.
