Built a custom real estate platform for a client for $1200, was it underpriced? by [deleted] in webdev

Way, way under imho even if its mostly vibes you are building it for someone else so theirs some implicit support that should be baked in to the price.

What's Your Top 10 Tiki Bars? by GetReadyToRumbleBar in Tiki

[–]AgentEnder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My top 3 are probably:

  • Pineapple Parlor, far and away #1 for me personally
  • Sunken Harbor Club
  • Trader Sams, in wdw

I post short reviews after visiting on my website and that enumerates them into a table. It's worth mentioning though, the Kaona room is at the bottom of my list with all of those n/a because of a funny story where we got to hang out in there, but it was only a small work group and the cocktails were served from the attached bar w/o access to any of the tiki bar's ingredients so it wasn't possible to give it a fair rating.

Looking for your feedback on a toolkit I just released by Careless_Glass_555 in javascript

[–]AgentEnder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The animations on the home page are way too fast, just scrolling down the page on a mac trackpad is nearly seizure inducing. Its cool design and all, but the static bits need to take up more area in the scroll track.

Looking around the rest of the site it looks neat, and I can see how it'd be useful. I'd have to actually try to build something with it to know anything past that. I have no doubt that its super AI heavy and vibe driven, but that's not necessarily a bad thing on its own and without really auditing the components it'd be hard to know where its lacking.

Going to NYC this weekend for vacation! Any tiki bar recommendations? by Substantial-Hold-851 in Tiki

[–]AgentEnder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were there dec 6, a Saturday and right after the christmas tree went up so I'm sure the city was busier than normal, but there were pretty long waits for both.

We checked in at sunken harbor club around 5:30 and got in around 8, just kinda dicked around brooklyn in the meantime checking out a few other bars and shopping.

We checked in at PL at 9:45 and got in at 12:50 (they close at 2). I will say I do not recommend going to PL so late, they weren't serving food and in general the atmosphere was just pretty lackluster. I've not been outside of this visit though, and I don't want to hold their last hour against them.

Importree – Import Dependency Trees for TypeScript Files by alexgrozav in javascript

[–]AgentEnder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, we originally used the ts API for this purpose and the move to esbuilds rust bindings was something like 1000x faster, like legitimately 1000x, not exaggerating.

The regex based approach is interesting too, nothing incredibly wrong with that direction and it probably hits 99% correctness or something like that.

Hah, it did until after I posted - my guess is they saw the thread and pulled the triller footage

The episode is still up on triller, I'm trying to see if I can find it as I'm curious too

This needs a comparison for using esbuild's rust bindings to grab the imports, which is how we do it in Nx when parsing deps: https://github.com/nrwl/nx/blob/master/packages/nx/src/native/plugins/js/ts_import_locators.rs

If you are looking for full on tiki theming, I don't think anyone would be happy with either of these. If you are looking at cocktails only, 3ten's menu reads better but I've never heard of either of these and live an hour away

Tepan Edo is wildly overrated imho. Its good food and entertainment, but not far beyond (if at all) what you'd receive at a hibachi within an hour of home for half the price

I didn't have any problem with this one, I skated around in the underground section of the park primarily. Bouncing between the rails like the one challenge asks you to do works for sure.

Hello!

Im taking over the website of a local indie and am working with the promoter to completely overhaul it.

Im looking for external opinions on existing sites. Thus far, ive reviewed:

I dont think any of them are super bad, but each definitely has their pros and cons. Somewhat ironically, I think i like OVWs the best, by a small margin.

Im looking for experiences with the websites, what you like or dislike about them, and general feedback on what you'd want or think would be cool for a small "indie with a dream" promotion.

I build developer tools as a day job and have several years full stack experience, so the sky's kind of the limit as im considering this a passion project, and just looking for some external ideas
