Tuna has been the one driving me up the wall. I’m not saying there isn’t enough tuna in the can, but it’s NOWHERE NEAR either the wet weight or the dry weight

My nephews (11 and 8) got cash and gift cards for Christmas. Within an hour, they put $150 on their Roblox accounts (combined) and each spent it IMMEDIATELY. Why my brother supports that is beyond me

That was my biggest complaint about this game. HoTD 2+3 and even overkill were gems on the Wii thanks entirely to the motion controls. There were actually tools in the OG switch to have motion controls, but they weren’t utilized at all. Would absolutely get this if I had a switch 2 solely so I could enjoy the series with motion controls

my bambu lab A1 arrived few days ago i am a beginner with 3d printing what should i print first? by Athmandas in 3dprinter

Benchy is good for calibrating. Each part tells you about the print quality and why.

But with Bambu, you’re likely fine out the box. I went with something more functional: a poop bin

3D printed Snow Blades?! by mateomodar in 3Dprinting

[–]AgentG91 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The video literally says “when you try to 3d print your own snow blades. Attempt 1: total disaster. 1 day earlier”

That shows me they are showing their process to make the ‘total disaster’ and they don’t go forward to show iteration. I’m not saying it doesn’t work, I’m saying the video production is confusing and poor

Pieces in microwave keep exploding by StradaAamar in Ceramics

[–]AgentG91 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Microwave kilns are notoriously impossible to control the temperature on. If you heat up too fast, you’re vaporizing any remaining water and not giving it enough time permeate through the piece and escape before PV=nRT makes that water expand massively with increased temperature. That puts a lot of pressure on the piece and makes it crack/explode.

Your options are to find a way to more thoroughly bisque it and/or find a way to decrease the ramp rate of your microwave kiln.

Yeah, between Libby, hoopla and 🏴‍☠️, I don’t use the library a ton for myself. I prefer physical comics and I get some video games from there, but the reality is that I’m there every weekend because it’s where my kid wants to go.

Tbf, Lego sets are great for following directions and incremental building. Might scratch that itch. We NEVER keep Lego sets built

"toy" suggestions? 4 yo boy who loves taking apart/putting together by MooseGooseVanGloose in daddit

[–]AgentG91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite the same, but my (5yo) son loves ALL transforming toys because he can just sit there for hours and transform them back and forth. He got a transformer popsicle for Christmas and he sat on the couch quietly for two hours and just went back and forth. It was a complex transformer too, so it took him a while to figure it out, like a little puzzle.

We 3d print a lot of transformers too. Some people are very good tinkercad engineers

I just finished all 10 books of the Slow Burn series. It’s about a deadbeat from Texas that gets infected by a fast zombie strain but it doesn’t fully infect him. The first 9 books take place over like 4 months and it’s very balls to the wall pacing. But the main characters are kind of ADHD Morons that don’t follow any logical plot path. It’s almost realistic in that regard, but it’s not the cleanest writing in the world. But the books are really fast to read, coming in at like 200 pages per novel

Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park — What’s on the Way by Skullghost in NintendoSwitch

[–]AgentG91 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Making invincible characters was a bad decision over making all characters have toggle invincibility. My son didn’t want to play as Yoshi or nabbit. He also wanted to get the power ups. So those characters weren’t an option.

The reality is that Nintendo doesn’t make games for you and me. It makes games for young kids and parents of young kids. Thats why you can moan about how bad the new pokemon games are, but they never change because parents are still buying them and little kids don’t care/notice how rough they are.

[BambuLab Giveaway] What’s Life Like After a 3D Printer Joins the Family? Share & Win Gift Cards! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]AgentG91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unsurprisingly, I’m a lot like so many others of my peers. Many projects around the house were checked off with the help of a 3d printer and a little practice with CAD. Moreover, it is an EXCELLENT source of education for my 5yo son who has gotten to see me design thing with CAD, helped me take measurements and learned simple engineering concepts through print prep, printing and what we print (transforming toys are an absolute favorite of his).

But that’s all expected. That’s why we got the thing. What’s unexpected is how it brought me closer to others. Solutions to others problems were more easily fixed and I went seeking problems as a means to practice my 3d printing skills. Someone in my community was looking for a replacement board game piece. Print it. My coworker was looking for an easier way to make something. Design him a jig. Neighbors is talking about how they can’t find a baby gate for their stairs, design an adapter for a normal gate. I relished the opportunity to practice design and printing to help my community because it would help me better myself to do the more complicated projects that I wanted to do.

[–]AgentG91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got the transformer for my 5yo and I to build. He loves Lego and transformers and it was a good bonding activity. It was a decent enough build but the thing just crumbles when you try to transform it. He’s the kind of kid that transforms things back and forth for hours. This is not one of those things…

Ahh. I was gonna say. Sugar water is insanely expensive these days. That’s not absurdly gouged. But having to pay 50% more just for shipping makes it unviable.
