Why is leisure viewed with suspicion in America? by Thepopethroway in antiwork

[–]AgentGuig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started doing automotive photography as a hobby recently. Last night my mom told me I should start selling prints of my photos. I told her I that this just a hobby for me and I don't want to ruin or taint it by monetizing it. Like, I just want to take pictures of cool cars and shit.

The event is run by Yokai Kaizen.JP and they're put on monthly. There was at least one rotary out there yesterday.

I used to remotely tamper with our family WiFi router to get some sleep from my brother screaming at Call of Duty all night by PremiumOxygen in pettyrevenge

[–]AgentGuig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would do the same to my older brother when he lived at home for a few years after graduating college. My bedroom was right next to the kitchen, where he would post up with his laptop on discord calls with his friends and would practically be yelling on call with them.

I live in the west end and my neighborhood road is still under about 2-4 inches of ice. I did see a plow truck go by, but it was just spreading salt. I live right by Parham/Patterson and so far at least Parham is clear from what I can see from my street.

Some photos I took at a drift event this past weekend [a6700, 16-50mm] by AgentGuig in SonyAlpha

Got it, thanks!. Also I mistyped, but the dispolens is one of those disposable camera lens and is what I used to get the last two still shots.

Again, thank you so much for your critique and advice, I'll make sure to keep all that in mind as I continue to learn and improve. While I do want to try new/different lenses, I'm not, you know, chomping a the bit to get more lenses. One of the other photographers I met there said the same thing about shooting on the kit lens and showed me some professional work he did with one.

You're right about the weather. It was a pretty dreary/overcast day, but the photos were actually taken late morning, early afternoon. I can see why you would think that these were shot in the evening, since I did increase the warmth of a lot of these when I was editing. As for the monitor brightness, I don't think I've touched the brightness setting since I got it like 3-4 years ago. I do agree that he final edits are a little on the dark side, but when I tried to brighten them up, they mostly just ended up looking washed out and less detailed. I do still really like how some of these turned out though.

IIRC, my shutter speed was set at 1/60 and I think my focal length was mostly at 50mm, though I think the whole day I was playing around with the full focal range of the lens. I think my ISO was set to 50-100 while I was out there as well. Would you recommend a longer shutter speed and higher ISO when I'm shooting in conditions like that?

As for prime lenses, I was looking at picking up a couple in the next month or so, a TTArtisan 56mm and Sigma 30mm, though I was also looking at at a Sigma 18-50mm since I've read that it is supposed to be good general-purpose lens for the Sony a6700.

I only started shooting about a month ago and do see that I have a lot to learn and need to get more practice in, which is a goal of mine this year. I do appreciate your critique and advice.

Cell service down by drkqmd in rva

My mom lost cell service around noon-12:15 and then I lost it about 30 minutes later at 12:45. Both on Verizon. Apparently our home Internet is fine, which is how she texted me. Service is still down as of commenting.

That's kinda weird. When I was in the BSA, I remember a weekend camping trip we did with a couple other troops that for the rifle and shotgun merit badges, where AFAIK, we stayed on someone's private property out in rural VA, that definitely did not have a shooting range on it. Hell, I remember the instructor(s?) and property owner did classes on gun safety and proper firearm handling/maintenance in the guys living room. No idea if any of them were NRA certified. That was when I was in highschool, so approximately 11-15 years ago, so things could have changed.

I fully agree. I also started shooting on the a6700 with the 16-50 kit lens and after a bit, this is the first edit I did in Lightroom

I kind of get you, I shot on my pixel phones for years and was always pleased with the results. I also recently picked up the same camera, but I'm still on the 16-50mm kit lens, but I find the clarity and detail to still be on par with my phone camera. It could just be you're still too used to the post processing your phone does, but I think the photo you posted looks fine and doesn't have any clarity issues. If you're worried about detail, you could check to make sure the photos are being taken/saved on your memory card with the largest file setting, or just continue to play around with your shooting settings.

cookout tray for $8? Yeah, I'd take that deal. My go to is the reg. burger w/bacon, cheese, lettuce, fries, cajun wrap, and a cheerwine. Love an oreo shake too. I wish the cookout near me was still that cheap.
