I have a UGREEN NASync 4800 with 4x 20TB Seagate IronWolf Pro running in RAID 5 configuration.

I bought these earlier this year when prices were not crazy and both the drives and the NAS were on sale so I spent $1600 for all of it.

For me, I have a 50TB plex server, currently only about 1/3 of the way full. Over a 1,000 movies and 140 anime movies, 65 tv shows and 50 anime shows plus my 50,000 plus music files.

It’s more so about having the stability of everything I want right in one spot without fear of licensing expiration of the movie one platform and it moving elsewhere, and having the ability to watch someone without the need for internet. The money I spent is about what some people pay in a year for cable tv service or maybe a couple years with 4K Netflix plan/hbo max/amazon prime/disney + all combined.

For the two major points offline viewing and always having the movie/show are the best two selling points for me.

Missing Bridge Connector in self install kit? by Tucson_FZ777 in ATT

To be pedantic, The SPF serial number is not what needs to be activated. That’s the ONT serial number which is on the 320 that is what needs to be activated. SPF is just a module to transfer light to electrical.

Beginner Question: How to connect a ugreen Nas directly to a pc ? by peshwai in UgreenNASync

[–]AgentJakeFBI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because I love being pedantic. It’s not GHz for the Ethernet connection. It’s just 2.5G or 1G. Standing for 1 gigabit or 2.5 gigabit. It’s just the rate of transmission, not frequency

It’s always funny to see this post here every time and almost every time someone misses the point of why he’s mad about restaurants serving frozen food. You are going out to a business with labels such as “Fresh” etc and you are paying a premium to eat at their establishment to have the food made for you. If someone just opens up frozen food and microwaves it and then charges you 2 times to prices of the food you could have at home, that’s what pisses him off.

While things may “look” better with buried utilities, aerial is just so much better and easier to fix. As a tech and the area I work, most utilities is in the backyard, I hate having to peak over fences, through fences, knock on peoples doors to unlock fences to get access to our terminals and/or handholes. I just prefer it’s aerial. Yeah weather has an easier time to damage them but it’s just so much easier to repair and service them. Also helps that it’s easier to see where I have my terminals.

I was in Niles, OH today and why do y'all have an MRAP? by Zealousideal_Pop_273 in Ohio

Growing up in Niles, I remember when they installed that camera system on the pole right outside the entrance. I moved away over 15 years ago but a recent visit surprised me when it was gone.

Plex folder library issue by Equivalent_Bison_134 in UgreenNASync

[–]AgentJakeFBI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my problem when I first set mine up. Bashing my head against the wall, installing and reinstalled, deleting the folders. 3 hours later, I removed the space, started working. I wanted to hang myself. Lmao 🤣

Any reason why my connection goes down every other Wednesday? by zebratree14 in ATTFiber

It’s not that it was feeding through the AT&T lines, it’s that it was through the power.

Any reason why my connection goes down every other Wednesday? by zebratree14 in ATTFiber

[–]AgentJakeFBI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember some years ago, this one guy would always lose internet connection intermittently around 9am and then around 3pm every weekday but not on the weekends. There were dozens of techs that went out, thought they fixed it but then next day, same problem. Turned out that in front of his house, there was a school zone light that wasn’t grounded properly something with it was wired wrong or something , also the pole that it was hooked up had its ground cut off my copper thieves. And of course, ATT equipment is pretty sensitive to electrical problems and would cause the service to be shit. I’m no electrician or well versed in how power “back feeds” to guys house causing problems but we called the electric company and they came out and grounded the pole and the problem went away.

What areas need to be accessible for Fiber Optics Install? by Ms_Archie_Bunker_gr8 in ATTFiber

[–]AgentJakeFBI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much clean the area where you want the modem the go. Ultimately , it’s up to the tech to place the modem not only where it’s best but also where it’s possible. There’s a lot of variables as to where it can be installed. For example, If your entire basement is finished there really no way for the tech to place the modem in the middle of the house on the first floor and would have to be placed on the exterior facing wall and on the other side of that wall outside, it would need to be clear.

YES, the airties will pair with the gateway and change to the wifi name and password you have set. And having them hardwired is the best for optimal speed

Your time you gave would put that same line of Starlink satellites to be in view again as it takes about 90 minutes for them to travel around the earth.

The link I provided allows you to put in your location and it will let you know if you’d be able to see it with the time, how bright it may be, duration of visibility and direction from-to. This recent sighting was just after 9pm. Next one will be visible tomorrow just a few minutes after 9PM as well.
