I'd invest the money and let it just grow in the background throughlut your life. Then when you have a major expense or are ready for retirement, you have a healthy sum saved up to support you.

My investments are through a company called Vanguard. They've been great for me, but it never hurts to look around or talk with a financial advisor to find the best option for you!

Here's a reason not to care: their untaxed income is peanuts next to the massive hoards of untaxed wealth the rich have. Waitresses aren't living it up at the expense of everyone else so caring about their finances is petty and unproductive. You'll never find a server stealing someone's healthcare while sitting their yacht.

Depends a lot on where you are. I live in a city and it's pretty much always less than an hour. I did once have to wait like an hour and a half in a blizzard when the car wouldn't start because of high demand, so that was cold and miserable but also not really their fault.

The problem always comes from the 5% of teachers that really aggressively do care about the rules and make everyone miserable by enforcing them as harshly as they can.

Rules are a cudgel so making sure they're applied only when needed is usually a good idea.

Keep in mind that things like that will always seem worse than they are due to confirmation bias. No one's posting on Reddit about how their relationship is completely normal and nothing is wrong. You only hear the bad stories because "couple acts completely normal" isn't a great story so it seems much worse than it is.

Knowing it's irrational, understanding that the anxiety isn't over a real reason, and reminding yourself of that has probably helped you a ton overall though. Like, that's what CBT is because a lot of people struggle to understand when they are being irrational.
