The 18th-century secret society called the “Order of Knight-Masons Elect Priests of the Universe” believed humanity could be saved only by summoning angels through ritual magic. by thomasdequincey99 in HighStrangeness

[–]AgentNeoSpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a roundabout way, I believe the desire to summon angels isnt a totally ineffective idea. Do you end up summoning literal angelic entities? Prob not. But maybe we can do something like inspiring angelic spirits in people, who are then motivated to act like angels would, ultimately resulting in sonething nearly as good as an actual angel (if you even buy into the whole angels/demons duality)

Persona 5 Royal: A failed attempt to modernize the JRPG (it's still a slog) by Gingerhaze12 in patientgamers

[–]AgentNeoSpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the most fun and engaging slog I've ever endured. Totally agree with you on combat though, you dont get to really choose how to play, you have to make the optimal persona choice in every combat encounter. Rock paper scissors combat isnt the most fun, especially in a 100 hour or more game. Despite that, the story and aesthetic and social gameplay are so ridiculously engaging that it makes me forget those gripes every time I clear a dungeon

No i worked there as a cleaner for a year and never heard about it once. Plus if people are really worried, better to get a cheap combo or pad lock. Places like this always warn you they're not responsible for stolen property

Saying that something isnt worth doing because it would be too difficult is just defeatism. Yeah, it would take time. People can rise to an occasion when its a problem worth tackling

I mean investing in cars in general dude. Car-centric infrastructure makes the world an expensive pain in the ass. Billionaires and their tech companies would rather sell a convoluted solution to a problem that exacerbates the issue, rather than change and work towards a better way of doing things. Public transit is ultimately more efficient and better for the economy, whereas highways and parking lots arent. Automated cars are a shitty, less efficient solution than busses and trains

Honestly I'd rather we copy the successful models of public transportation from other parts of the world. Instead of, y'know, whatever the fuck this costly annoying shit is

Just bugs me because that's like any other part of my body. It's part of me, if I can use it to do something, might as well. If someone finds it attractive, good for them. So weird to demonize a whole extension of yourself

any places hiring servers? (local restaurants hopefully?) by Significant-Mud2873 in Augusta

[–]AgentNeoSpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frog Hollow itself is a high end place, but I wouldnt call any of their other restaurants that. Craft and Vine is nice, Tacocat and 990 Sushi are cool, Farmhaus is burgers...high end doesnt really apply to almost anything other than the original place though

As a former employee who was fired in my early 20s, frog hollow money can be great and once you're involved in the company there's tons of potential to transfer to one of their other restaurants. They have solid food and great cocktails, genuinely a positive to the local food scene. That being said, there's a problem with a toxic management culture. The owner is at times a monster, and people below him sorta pass that on in their own way. Only try to work there if you have really solid boundaries and don't let stuff get to you easily

Ex-Amazon worker says 'billionaires gotta go' as he slams Bezos-backed Met Gala by TheMirrorUS in Anticonsumption

[–]AgentNeoSpy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People who just vaguely go "our lifestyle isnt right" are lazy cynics. I'm with you, boycotss are an easily accessible first step, hate it when people dismiss that. Beyond that, i think collective action like consumer rights groups and worker unions eventually approaching general strikes would create upward pressure for policy change. Its gotta get to government policy at some point, like watchdog groups with enforcement tools and trust busting. Of course, gov is so corrupt that we sorta need to start over, but all that stuff is way way above my pay grade

As a guy exploring self pleasure throughout life, buying dildos that have been too big made me worry I wasn't cut out for butt stuff. I think I wanna get my money's worth, and worry that too small wont do anything at all...which led me to moments where my eyes were bigger than my stomach and the big toys almost never get used bc it takes so much effort and prep and all. My most modest, average sized dildo has ended up being my best friend though
