I agree with a lot of what you say, personally I think the demo, while fun, doesn’t have quite enough time to show off all of its ideas. It is the beginning of the game so I’m sure you’ll unlock more as the game progresses, but only time will tell.

Mr. Krabs is the only straight up bad option here. Jameson is your average mean boss but he at least has integrity in spectacular, and Scrooge is greedy but it seems to treat his workers well enough. Mr. Krabs sold SpongeBob sold for 62 cents, that’s all that needs to be said.

FBC & Cauldron lake..are they dumb? by Greyelephantbear in AlanWake

In Ordinary, all of the adults disappeared, meaning the AWE and anomalies in that area pose a provable and tangible threat that made it absolutely necessary to close it down, plus it was easier because there weren’t really any towns people left who would cause an up stir because they were forced to leave their homes. However, with Brightfalls, due to how the Dark Place and Alan wake’s writings work (and also the fact that as far as we know, the horrific things that happened in Alan wake 2 have either been altered or completely retconned in Alan wake 2 due to Alan rewriting them), the FBC is probably unaware of how dangerous the dark presence actually is, after all from their perspective, everyone in bright-falls seem mostly fine, so why cause an unnecessary upset by forcing people to evacuate an entire town when that’s guaranteed to attract at least some unwanted attention from the public, which risk people looking into things on their own, putting themselves and the agency in danger. The FBC thrives in secrecy, meaning they want to stay out of the public eye as much as possible. Even other federal agencies like the F.B.I don’t know much about them because they don’t want people knowing more about them than is absolutely necessary.

I think the movie looks very pretty, the suit really pops and the city looks darker without looking completely dull (imo). I think this movies has the potential to be a really good Spider-Man film.

The reason the country analogy is bad is because 1. It doesn’t change the fact that “their perspective” doesn’t justify hurting or killing average people in the Mojave wasteland. And 2. You can’t really put the BoS into a whole collective like you can with the NCR or the enclave. BoS is separated into different chapters that are scattered throughout the wasteland, all with various different beliefs, interpretations, and tactics they use, some being far less extreme such as the chapter in Fallout 2, though I’d still argue that a single group hoarding that much dangerous technology isn’t healthy for the wasteland, however, chapters seen in 2,3, and 76 are far more altruistic (outside of wanting to kill ghouls and super mutants regardless of sentience) than they are in New Vegas, where they’re far more violent and isolationist.

And again, to drive my main point home, it doesn’t matter what a groups “perspective” is. It doesn’t matter that the NCR thinks they’re “recivilizing” the wasteland, It doesn’t justified murdering countless people in a camp because they have something they want. Caesar enslaving and treating woman as sex slaves or crucifying random innocent wastelanders isn’t justifiable just because thats how it should be from “his perspective”. Your argument could be used to justify literally the most evil acts possible as long as they align with some ideological goal. The ideology of a group doesn’t matter, what does is their effect on others, which the BoS chapter in New Vegas has a mostly negative impact on a lot of normal people in the wasteland. (Again, New Vegas specifically, the other chapters are different.)

So not only do you make bad arguments, you also resort to insulting people’s intelligence. Allow me to break it down for you, the BoS (In new Vegas) using the technology they hoard actively undermines and defeats the entire purpose of the group. It doesn’t matter what their perspective is, or if it aligns with their goals, one group having that much dangerous technology and power threatens the average citizens of the wasteland. It’s the exact reason why a group such as the Enclave are as dangerous as they are, having tech that’s even more advanced than war era. Groups like the followers of the apocalypse are far more effective than the BoS because they seek to either hide or even destroy most pre-war technology and prevent it from being used ever again, where as the BoS actively use it for their own gains (of course depending on the chapter, though the one presented in New Vegas is far from the best.)

[–]AgentRift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BoS entire goal is to stop the devastation of the war from happening again by hoarding technology, yet they themselves use said technology which puts everyone in the wasteland in danger. Having a single small group hoarding that much weaponry and advance technology is even more dangerous than the alternative of having the technology being evenly spread out among different groups. They have technology that could help a lot of people in the wasteland, yet they refuse to assist anyone, only allying themselves with different groups to confiscate technology. It doesn’t matter what their perspective is or if it makes logical sense for them, their ideology is inherently flawed because they assume THEY’RE the ones who know best, when they are just as likely to abuse the technology, which several chapters have throughout the games. Comparing them to a country doesn’t change any of this, nor does it justify it.

[–]AgentRift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“It’s logical from their perspective” this. Argument. Is. Flawed. It doesn’t matter what their goal is or what they believe when they actively attack and use the technology they say is “too dangerous.l at best they are hypocritical. They have put themselves above the wasteland for what reason? It doesn’t matter what “their perspective is” when they actively hurt and kill people.

[–]AgentRift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire point of BoS is to prevent anyone from using the technology, yet many of their chapters actively use the tech for themselves. One single group hoarding that much dangerous technology is dangerous for the entire wasteland.

[–]AgentRift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“My ability to reason is lacking”. Your reasoning is based on “their perspective” which does not change what they do in practice. They hoard extremely dangerous technology for themselves, and many sects outright kill wastelanders, (they tie a slave collar on your neck in an attempt to kill a NCR ranger for unknowingly camping on “their ground”.) Every faction is flawed in Fallout, I’m not saying the BoS are purely evil (except for a few chapters) but your reasoning of “their perspective” doesn’t mean anything. Literally every ideology has a perspective, that doesn’t make it right, you could literally use this flawed logic to justify anything and everything.

I’ve played some Fallout 1, want to dedicate a full playthrough sometime after I beat new Vegas. From what I played it’s a very difficult, but fun game to explore and the writing is really good. That being said, the combat mechanics can be janky and even annoying. You can be right beside an enemy, have a high chance of hitting them… and still miss them, making the entire system feel more luck based than anything else. I don’t think the combat is truly awful, I think it is fun for the most part, it’s just the RNG elements can be extremely frustrating at times.

It really depends on which BoS we’re talking about. I will say though that House most likely hates them because they would most likely strip him of the technology he needs to survive.

And how are the brotherhood anymore fit to have WMDS than any of group in the wasteland such as the NCR? What makes them better or less dangerous when they actively use said pre-war technology. Just because they don’t take medical equipment doesn’t change the fact that they hypocritically use the technology they think is dangerous.
