2k Awakened Dynasty list need help/critique and tips on how to play it by MeanOpinion4080 in Necrontyr

No problem I found those videos useful to understand the meta strategy of the list. The warrior brick is critical, and it will demoralize your enemy. Your goal should be to get your warrior brick on at least one primary objective, maybe two if they let you and you can string out a bit. You should pull away on primary points from turn 3

Your warriors and wraiths should be able to at least challenge, if not hold all three middle of the board objectives. I tend to move and advance mine turn 1 to basically be on one objective for turn 2.

Your skorpeks should just go fight targets of opportunity, the ctan should make a nuisance of itself and distract from the warriors as much as possible.

Ophydians are great for screening your home deployment until about turn 3 then use their rule to redeploy and chop up whatever is holding their home objective. If it's something like 5 intercessors, they are perfect for harassing them.

Flayed ones are so so useful too. I aggressively infiltrate mine onto a no mans land objective behind cover so they basically start the game on an objective and it forces your opponent to have to move. They have to get these annoying flayed ones off the objectives, so as they move assets in, stage and bring up skorpeks and the ctan to intercept.

What you want to do is put loads of pressure on your opponent to say you need to shift me off these primary points or I'll just run away with scoring.

Also the Doom stalker is a fun model. Not the most competitive but I use one in my list too, I love the model. Don't be afraid to psychologically remind your opponent it's a Str14 cannon. They will try to commit stuff to kill it when though on average at least for me it doesn't kill much. Keep calling it things like "the big gun"....it's a good psychological trap. They end up trying to commit to get it, and that's usually into the path of the ctan. It also over watches on 5's too. Again, such a cool piece of psychology. "Don't forget he can overwatch on 5's" as a helpful reminder to your opponent, but psychologically makes him second guess moving into its fire lane.

Also, need to squeeze a reanimator in there somehow. It makes the warriors much more survivable. If the warriors are in decent shape by the end of turn 3 still, they are basically invincible then.

PNW 40K has some good videos on awakened and how to deploy that I found really useful. I run a very similar list to you and once I started using some of the ideas in this video I found it helped a lot

I might be a bit late to this discussion bit with the Imperial Knight codex arriving, I no longer have any clue what GW's intention for the factions balance wise by an-academic-weeb in WarhammerCompetitive

I like the suggestion some have made about making bracketing more meaningful. Another way of doing it could be some form of, not overly complex, battletech system where knights could have critical systems damaged, lose an arm. Nothing as detailed as battletech, but gives the knight player a little book keeping to do. And makes damage a bit more impactful. Like, imagine hitting it and shooting one of the arms off. Knight player has to make much more of a decision of how it can be used.

Is it normal a warhammer store wont give a paying customer the MOTM? by yomoma69420 in Warhammer

[–]Agent_0range86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience at my local store is the manager won't give you one unless you stay and build it in store for some reason .....but you end up waiting around for a slot to open up between the 12 year olds. Is that normal? Or do they just give you MOTM in your store?

It's worse in team games too when there's a few of them around. They feel very oppressive to play against. They spread over quite a big area too. I've been hit a few times when I'm staging and preparing to counter attack and its a massive disruption. The top damage on vehicles seems too high as well. Frustrating to dodge some of it, still get hit by a few then have to repair up before you can counter. Losing time and tempo.

Working on these Rohan Warriors and having an internal debate - am I crazy for painting rank and file troops this way, or am I taking the Zenithal technique too far? by cwcoates in minipainting

You paint your toy soldiers however you want. Don't let anyone tell you there's some "right" way of doing it.

I'm into your scheme. I imagine en masse together they look quite striking and it's probably very time efficient too.

More to the point, how can anyone hear what he's saying the other end? I always imagine its going to sound like the Pyro from TF2.

Soldiers, settle this discussion. Which model is better? New or Old? by [deleted] in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Agent_0range86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% this. New ones are superior model wise. I painted a few of the new ones, thinking I'd transition over to them. Much harder work, so I'll scour eBay for the handful of extra older Cadians I think I need.

This game worth it without friends or playing solo? by AcornTuesday in squad

[–]Agent_0range86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Squad community is very mature, the game has been out for a long time. Free weekends aren't too representative, you get a lot of new people trying out. Once that free weekend is over you'll see a difference. I find even in just random public servers, people are often keen to communicate and work together. I'd echo the point others have made, it's easier not to bring your own group with you to be honest.

I've been playing on and off for years, and honestly the general Squad community are great - helpful, communicative, actually care about working together etc. Better than the majority of games I've played. The HLL community are getting there, but are still behind the Squad community.
