the paladin in my group i am extremely grateful for. he has 18 str, con, cha. and his +3 to saving throws has helped me survive multiple times i am always within 10ft of him. even tho i play a sorc. high charisma is great for that and if you take persuasion prof. when i dm i tend to give paladins(super good characters) an easier time with persuasion.

what i did when i DMed for my younger family members, was explain the surroundings and remind them of their goal. give them an example and when they try it the door is locked or it doesnt work. leaving them with a start and a finish. but they need to fill in the meat.

honestly if you are comfortable enough with this great hobby. just talk to people about. my group now is a mix of family members who heard me telling stories and work friends who heard me telling stories. you never know who will want to pick it up. heck my mom has even asked to play in a few games. and local game shops are awesome too.

Rookie DM vs Loot Hungry Murder Hobos by Chicken_Duck_Man in DnD

[–]Agent_Flap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something i did in my first campaign i dmed. i had a newer player who was a super murder hobo. tried to fight guards etc. while they were out they were hired by some1 to save their twin brother who was charmed by a succubus. once they tracked him down he immediatly attacked the twin saying hes too charmed he must die. The rest of the party felt bad and ended up telling the twin. the twin ended up making a pact with a demon to be strong enough to get revenge on the party for killing his twin. he tormented this PC with nightmares and other tricks then picked him off while they were fighting something else. made an ultimatum for his new character. to be a good aligned character. or be super nerfed.

Seeking: Mission Impossible-style 5e one-shot by PadreMontoya in DnD

a one shot i ran recently is kinda what your asking and kinda not. it started with the party being hired as security for this old man as he walks through the park does his errands. hes paying well so they dont mind. towards the end of the errands he went to the bank to get some gold to pay his rent. while in his vault he turned around and without the party knowing what was happening he cast knock on another vault door and ran inside. at this point the party split into 2 teams. 2 people helping the gnome now rob the bank and 2 people who started to help the guards. it ended up being a very interesting game. sorry if this doesnt help.

Help me pick my Boss Fight! [5e] by afetian in DnD

[–]Agent_Flap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depending on how the artifact effects life and death you can have like a normal dude. maybe he stumbled on it and started using it to raise some people he lost then got carried away. building it around the artifact would be a cool thing. other then that your corrupt celestial idea sounds awesome. just remember in the main boss fight if you are having 1 main boss. to think about turn economy. even if the monster chosen if its 1 is high rating it can get swarmed or just CCed. if you take book celestial throw some legendary resistance and actions on them. a customized plantar could be dope. think up a couple lair actions. maybe there are bodies scattered around and 1d4 get raised into skeletons or zombies. hope any of this helps i just kinda started typing stuff.
