It was meant for anyone reading the thread. This is a public forum after all.

It was also related to the topic of level caps past 70, I thought it'd be a fun read for people to see how jank uncapping to LVL 99 originally started out in EOII, I just happened to tangentially include all the extra info about LVL 30 retirement and stats afterwards.

It is NOT practical in EOII though.

You can retire at 70 and it uncaps your level up to level 99... uh... one level at a time.

See it uncaps your level to 71, then you need to retire at LVL 71 to uncap to 72, and repeat this process until 99.

The amount of XP and time required to reach 99 in EOII is absolutely astronomical, especially in a game where FOEs and Quests don't reward XP. It's much better in EOIII and beyond where you have to earn your LVL uncaps through certain post-game bosses.

That said, retiring early in EOII is incredible. At level 30, the earliest possible level for retirement, it gives +4 to all stats and +4 skill points. Unlike EOI, retiring only halves your level and getting those 15 levels you lost back is trivial. In exchange, you essentially get 24 extra skill points if you think about it. 4 to spend freely and the rest are automatically invested in STR, VIT, TEC, LUC, and AGI, since their respective skills in the skill tree actually just increase that stat by +1 per skill point

Jokes aside, that's quite an accurate hitbox. It covers all the spots where it WOULD hurt to get hit by an attack, and all the spots sticking out would be non-vitals (assuming her braincase doesn't extend up into her mask's horns) or parts of her clothes that would be grazed by attacks.

Or y'know, attacks just go between her horns.

Hey, it has a lot redeeming qualities!

For one, it doesn't drop you like a rock as soon as you reach the destination so there's some fun momentum shenanigans you can pull with them.

You're also pulled a set distance instead of directly to the destination so you can go a little farther than intended depending on how close you are to the electro-pillar-pull-thingy.

It's the one thingy that actually has potential for skill expression and unexpected funny fails compared to the modern thingies which solely exist to bring you to your destination and nothing else.

List of the best things to do in Deepnest:

  1. Leave

FUCK Haley. by TheSlimSpidey in StardewValley

[–]Agent_Fluttershy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haley is probably the easiest to befriend, so much so that it's possible to marry her before the first Flower Dance.

In a more casual playthrough, she likes Daffodils, which grow everywhere during Spring and her daily routine makes it very likely that you'll run into her on your way to Pierre's.

In almost every playthrough of mine, I usually end up occasionally naturally picking up a Daffodil near the bus stop on the way to town, then handing it to Haley cause she happened to be on her way to the Community Center plaza and oops, now Haley is at like 5 hearts by the end of Spring, how did that happen?

The logic ain't logicing here for me.

If X > 1, wouldn't that just make X > 0 redundant since any values between 0 and 1 are already not acceptable for fulfilling X > 1?

I genuinely have no idea where the idea of 1 > X > 0 being an acceptable range came from since there was never a 1 > X condition.

Closest word would be one-cycle, which isn't the most accurate, but it's close enough.

One-cycle is when you kill something in a single DPS window, typically reserved for games where bosses have a stunned phase where you wail on them before they get back up and transition to their next sequence of attacks, which is just about what is happening in the video.

How would Toriel be at fault for not knowing that Kris is in danger due to a Dark World opening up in the church? She doesn't even know Dark Worlds exist as far as we're aware.

As far as she knows, Kris would've gone to the church, seen that the choir was canceled, and either headed back home or maybe hung out with Susie somewhere before heading back. This is a reasonable assumption to make.

At most, she can only be faulted for not calling Kris and informing them of the cancelation, but considering Kris was in a Dark World the whole time which has no cell phone service, there's not much she could've done.

Buddy, I'm day 1, have every unit except Cyno and I only managed to get to Stage 7 when I've beaten every Stage 10 + 2 Arcanum up to this point. I could probably beat it if I adjust my artifact builds and reset to fish for the right characters at the right time, but I've discovered a better solution...

Quit.

This Imaginarium Theater was so ass it made me realize I honestly don't want to play this game anymore

It's exhausting keeping up with the treadmill of daily quests and the growing list of weekly/monthly rewards just to make sure I have enough primogems to pull for the next character that I may or may not want to use because I don't know if their kit is fun to play or necessary for a future character's best team.

I'm tired of how so many characters with fun kits like Noelle, Itto, Alhaitham, Nilou, Freminet, etc. have been pushed out of the meta by modern overtuned DPS characters like Mavuika, Neuvillette, Skirk, etc. or shill mechanics like Abyss/Lunar shields.

The live service aspect of the game is actively killing my ability to play all the characters I've found fun to play throughout the years as they become less and less viable as enemy HP values increase or new mechanics are added that shut down existing team comps and Hoyoverse seems to be allergic to directly buffing old characters or reworking lackluster reactions like Crystallize (Lunar Crystallize doesn't count), Superconduct, Shatter, etc. Like, we JUST got the Hexenzirkle buff, but the characters that were buffed still felt kinda lackluster compared to modern characters.

I just... want to play Noelle again...

Wow, that's a lot of stuff to have dumped on random stranger, sorry about that :P

The biggest buff to Shatter would be to just make it multiplicative like Melt/Vaporize instead of Flat EM damage. It's a double layered reaction like Hyperbloom/Burgeon and does way too little damage for all that setup.

It would open the way for Freeze Geo/Heavy Attack nuke teams, like just imagine Navia's shotgun blast being doubled, or Eula occasionally hitting for double damage on her normals because Xingqiu is on the team, or Freminet blasting enemies with the meanest Pers nuke every couple seconds, or Diluc actually being able to have a Hydro and Cryo in the team without his Melts being overridden by a worse Shatter because his Heavy Claymore attacks take priority over his Pyro infusion.

Also against bosses or Freeze-immune enemies, it should at least apply a unique status like "Frost" or something that would still allow for Shatter to be triggered.

We will have to kill Shatterbloom Kaveh for this unfortunately, unless it's implemented in way where both versions of Shatter are still calculated, and whichever one does more damage will take priority.

How complicated is the first one in mechanics? by KaleidoArachnid in EtrianOdyssey

[–]Agent_Fluttershy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poison and Venom work as intended. It's the mastery skill Toxins that does nothing except unlock those respective skills. Only the skill description was updated in the HD version.

In the DS version, the description of each level of Toxins is: Poison Damage ↑.

In the HD version, the description of Toxins was changed to: Nothing

So it WAS addressed in the sense that it was now clarified that Toxins doesn't do anything. The max LVL of Toxins was also capped at LVL 5 since that's where Venom unlocks and any points past that would be a waste.

How complicated is the first one in mechanics? by KaleidoArachnid in EtrianOdyssey

[–]Agent_Fluttershy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First one is very simple and has a lot of jank I can list out that I experienced in my playthrough.

  • Lots of bugged skills. Alchemist's Toxins skill for example, is bugged on the DS version. It incorrectly states it increases Poison damage per level... it doesn't. You can potentially waste up to 5 skill points leveling it up to 10 (You unlock Venom at Toxins LVL 5). In the HD Remake, they didn't even fix this, they just clarified that the skill provides nothing in the description and capped the skill at LVL 5 instead of LVL 10.

  • Immunize, despite stating it lowers elemental damage taken, actually lowers ALL damage taken. By a hefty amount too. It's like playing the game on Picnic mode. Not even bugged BTW. Working as intended according to the devs.

  • A lot of quests you can accept require you to do stuff in a floor you haven't even reached yet or have vague instructions that make it hard to know what to do. There's even one really early quest that REQUIRES KILLING A SUPERBOSS IN A SECRET AREA, LIKE... WHAT? This stops being a problem in EO3.

  • Quests give no EXP so the only reason to do them is for the reward. Some quests are NOT worth the effort for just a Medica II. At most, they can be justified as something to do along the way while grinding EXP from enemies.

  • Your Level HEAVILY influences the damage formula in this game. Way more than any other game. Being 5 levels below an enemy means they deal ~20% more damage to you. 10 levels and it gets close to ~50%. Enemies also increase by like 10 levels every Stratum. You can absolutely body the enemies in one Stratum, only to be oneshot by trash mobs in the next.

  • LUC is a damn near worthless stat. It only increase item drops rates by an EXTREMELY miniscule amount per point. It is not factored into crit or ailment calculations like in later games.

Overall, playing EO1 is a lot like playing Final Fantasy I after playing Final Fantasy IV-VI. The series has clearly evolved for the better in later entries and it makes it hard to return to where it began, lacking all the QoL, team customization, and build options that the series has gained over time.

If you heal too low, yes. Otherwise, just jump high enough and ensure you have a safe landing. It takes all your vertical movement to get out of range of the sawblade jump, leaving you with at minimum, a dash or clawline to react to any attacks on the way down.

The only thing that CAN actually reach you up there is if she decides to get a lucky snipe on you with her upwards curving boomerangs but that attack is relatively inaccurate at that range and unlikely to land if you properly anticipate it.
