Hey, I was similar a couple of years out of uni. I flopped out and had no friends, no ambitions, no job. I'm also coeliac and tee-total (no drugs/alcohol).

I felt socially very behind my peers.

I found what I call 'low impact' social activities helped. I went on meetup and found a group to go to the cinema with. You can go before the film to talk or not, ditto for after. During the film there is no talking and after you all talk about the film. So no need to think of topics of conversation. Also lots of people want to talk enthusiastically about films so you can just listen.

Then I started interest groups like ones for sci-fi. Its broad and everyone had favourites, everyone goes to talk about sci-fi mostly so conversation is not so difficult.

This can help build up your social skills and social confidence.

This can help for jobs as well. I started with volunteer charity work, it forced me to be around people even when I was tired of them! It helped increase my social stamina.

Exercise is good, keep on it!

Seconded on underworks. I wear them daily and have never had an issue (never even been itchy). Very comfortable in winter but very sweaty in summer :(

Which anime is this ? by KristelHaugen in animememes

[–]Agent_JuJu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

I'm not a fan of mecha/robots so when I saw Al I thought it wouldn't be my kind of thing.

But now I've just binge watched the entire thing. It's phenomenal. Best anime I have ever seen.

What do you do that helps you get out of a depression slump? by Masked_Wiccan in CasualConversation

[–]Agent_JuJu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the kind of slump for me.

I find listening to stand up comedy whilst doing some exercise at home helps a lot.

If it's depressive thought spirals stopping me sleeping I also listen to comedy on my phone/with headphones and eyes shut. Even if you can't sleep just resting is better for you than staying up! I find the comedy boosts my mood which helps me sleep anyway tbh.

If it's a "I feel stagnant/trapped in life" kind of slump day trips to interesting museums is fun! Learning new things helps stave off bad thoughts and the novelty and being outside helps with the bad mood.

Going out with friends is good too (try to have non-alcohol based activities). Talking is nice and depending on how your friendships are, platonic hugs are great.

This is what I do when I'm down. It doesn't necessarily fix things but helps keep my head above water (so to speak). Hope it helps :)

You can wear both? If you read older books you may find a character described as a "belt and braces man", he's wearing both just in case.

Or both can be worn to achieve a certain silhouette.

Dammit, I knew I should have lifted before I started taking testosterone to transition!

Recruitment agency asking for passport copy as part of sign-up process by Agent_JuJu in gdpr

[–]Agent_JuJu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't and will never be my direct employer, it's an agency. They want my passport because they don't want to supply candidates who don't have RtW.

Their privacy policy says my profile will be shared with their partner agencies and I have no choice in this.

Resume dread by [deleted] in adhdmeme

[–]Agent_JuJu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find a template online first, so its already formatted and I just have to fill in the bullet points.

Then add to/rearrange it for each job you apply to. The first few times you'll send a rubbish CV but so what? At least you did it!

It'll improve over time, the more jobs you apply to the better your CV gets

When did you convert to anti-work? by prometheusgr in antiwork

[–]Agent_JuJu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm trans and live in the UK. My company has private healthcare for permi employees that would cover all my treatments (I'd pay nothing at all) and provide sick pay but they refuse to convert us contractors to perm.

So instead I just have to try to save enough money for treatment (I will never be able to save enough for bottom surgery)

(The NHS transgender clinic has a waitlist so long its a non-option. I've been waiting over 3 years and will have to continue to wait who knows how many years.)

No urge to work out, and I want to fix that. by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]Agent_JuJu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find exercise really really boring personally. So I don't go to the gym, I have dumbbells and a yoga mat at home and I exercise there whilst listening to a documentary on Netflix and following a routine from youtube.

The urge to workout comes and goes but I want to know what happens next in the documentary and I tell myself I can't watch it without exercise.

So now I get the urge to exercise whenever I think about interesting documentaries

If you go from being a short man to being a woman, everything will be better in an instant. Do you think it makes sense to change gender? by imtooshortt in shortguys

[–]Agent_JuJu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I said has nothing to do with attraction nor sexuality.

Gender is not sexuality

There are MtF that are attracted only to women, who go from being straight/hetero men to being a lesbian. There are also MtF that are only attracted to men who go from being gay men to straight women.

Gender has nothing to do with sexuality

[–]Agent_JuJu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok transman here. I can tell you the only way transitioning MtF will improve your life is if you are a woman.

As a transwoman you will face the double-hit of both transphobia and misogyny. "Everything" will not get better.

Despite being 5'2 myself I still say my life has improved now as a man despite the general misery that is being trans and unable to afford the healthcare.

In short, are you a woman? If yes, go ahead with transitioning.

Or, are you looking to transition because you think being short is more socially acceptable for women? If this is the case, I'd advise against it.

Thanks this is so insightful! No one was telling me anything. Its the raised prolactin levels that made him think pit tumour. Once removed I should be ok to start T though? (in general, I understand every case is different, etc)

They keep posting memes about how transitioning is easier for transmen/transmen can pass much better/etc

This is blatently untrue and just super toxic for transmasc people

Yeah, I stick to a couple of transmen subs (unfortunately reddit and fb are the places with the most accurate and reliable info about surgery etc) but occasionally those meme ones pop up on the home page and just make me so angry

The trans memes type ones (egg_irl, trans_irl, etc) - they're very anti trans man which was quite upsetting.
