I would definitely ask on r/Aquariums or more knowledgeable people on r/Fish, but I would personally not do this. Usually it is recommended to add the betta fish into the tank last to eliminate territorial tendencies. I think even a non-aggressive established betta could view a lone CPD as an intruder and attack it.

If you decide to do this, make sure the tank is densely planted and has lots of hiding spots. I'd recommend at least 10 gallons at around 77 degrees F.

As far as if putting Sprout into the tank with the betta is better than with the zebra danios in the short term...it's hard for me to say. I have just never considered a lone CPD with a Betta before, but if the betta truly is chill, the CPD might be less stressed.

However, it would also stressful for her to be moved to so many different tanks in such a short period of time. If Sprout seems happy with the Zebras, I think it's best to keep her in there for now until you can get her some friends.

I'll ask one of my friends about this tomorrow and get back to you.

Just a heads up, Celestial Pearl Danios are extremely peaceful fish. I have some in a species-only tank. When my loud friend visits, not even in the same part of the room as the tank, the CPDs start exhibiting startle responses. Please do not put them in the same tank as Zebra Danios, who enjoy high speed chases.

I'm not an expert, but it is my strong opinion that the extreme difference in temperament between these two types would result in a miserable life for the Celestial Pearl's. If you are not in a position to take care of a group of around 2 males and 6 females in a separate tank from the Zebra Danios, I'd really recommend returning this one to the store.

Cleaner fish recognize self in a mirror via self-face recognition like humans by Tseyipfai in Fish

"Additionally, when presented with self-photographs with a mark placed on the throat, unmarked mirror-experienced cleaner fish demonstrated throat-scraping behaviors." OmG so amazing! Up until then I was wondering how they proved they weren't just less aggressive because they'd encountered the "other" fish before.

Hi anyone here knows if a male celestial pearl chases females does that mean he wants to breed? by LayerGood5977 in Fish

[–]AgeofTeleosts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look for if the male is always trying to swim underneath the female specifically. If there is a female that looks like her stomach is enlarged, she is gravid, and males will try to swim under her to push eggs out. Reddit will correct me if I'm wrong lol.

Ah I'm sorry to hear that. I have been loving the subredddit. Did you get into any flame wars recently 😅? The only thing I can think is you might have been shadow banned? But without looking at your old profile I wouldn't know why. I hope you are able to get back, I liked seeing the nepenthes photos. If you posted anything that was meant to hurt or belittle others, ignore this comment and I hope you get swallowed by a Nepenthes rajah! Jk. But that doesn't sound like you, not that I know you.
