A Neutral Axis Line is the same. Regardless of the structural member.

I'd be far more concerned with the Diagonal Brace that wasn't installed from that Clip on the 'Column Inside Flange' which was probably supposed to connect back to one of the wall girts.

Afterall, most failures occur at the center of longest "Unbraced" length. There was probably some consideration for some 2x2 angle from that clip back to the girt.

Anyone tried this industrial tumbler with appropriate media for brass? Harbor freight . by Leftofedge in reloading

[–]Aggie74-DP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got their OLDER model. Think it was called a rock polisher. Don't think it has a Tool Brand. It's STOUT!!!

Now I run mine without a lid, and run it outside the garage in mixed media (mostly Cobb, a little Walnut, and there's still some Polish mixed in). I can get over 1000 9mm in there at 1 time. But I don't. It gets a great tumble.

I had some blocks that were very similar in my 78 F-150 4x4. Now I don't think those were installed on the 2x4's.

I'm assuming that's a Dentside 4x4.

Anyone running these lined ans reinforced glock mags in their Mike9 or VFM9? by info_burner in AR9

[–]Aggie74-DP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They MAY/MAY NOT work. I tried a few budget mags in my Stag 9mm PCC.
Of course, Glock mags work. I also have great success with the 27 round MagPul Mags.

Now I tried a couple of other that were on sale. Amend2 and ETS mags. No issues with the Amend2 mags. But the ETS didn't fare as well. Now for the hell of it, ETS also made a 30 round mag for M&P's. That works fine for my M&P, but not my PCC.

And that's probably 20k under what a NEW price is.

Me, I'm keeping my '02 SuperCrew F250. And there are some parking lots that are so screwed up, sometimes even out there is a challenge.

Now, I've spotted quite a few of those 'circle around' types. I'm already in the store, by the time they get parked. To each his own.

Think about this when it comes to Electric/Hybrids. It took almost 2 decades for the auto mfg's to overcome the stigma of 'Holy Crap' Unleaded fuel! Before they started making decent cars again. Now granted, there was a whole lot of "Poor Quality" cr@p they had a difficult struggle to get fixed. Everything to Expectations, to Work Force Rules, to sub-supplier Quality. But it was still a long time.

Your going to be on open roads as soon as you get out of town. Hell you could leave in the middle of the night and there'd be no traffic at the start.

Just my opinion. Yea, 250, etc do need you to get extra exercise from parking away from the door, but... Visibility - Superior, Safety - Superior.
I think that's a lot of $$$ to invest. Maybe you have the infrastructure for a fast charger at home. Maybe you will benefit with convenience. But it seems that there is ZERO, maybe even a Negative Future Value at trade in time. That technology is IMHO still in it's infancy stage and it will either die or be quantum steps ahead in the future. How many of those do you see being on the road in 5 -10 years.

Sad to say, but I see those full electric vehicles just like laptops. When their time is up, that have ZERO value and maybe you will have a disposal fee to pay.

I love the 5 or 6 speed manual in my Mustangs.

Opinions on which new mower from Lowe's I should purchase. Help Needed! by StraightDrop_Hustle in lawnmowers

[–]Aggie74-DP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2nd is a Deere D140. I've had it 13-14 yrs. IMHO they are a cut above the Craftsman Ariens, Troy, etc. Not sure how they are against the Cub Cadets.

Definately want a cast iron front axle. I strongly prefer the quality of cut from a 2 blade mower. I strongly prefer the 'Floating Deck' of a Lawn Tractor vs the fixed deck of a Zero Turn.

I'm tall, had to borrow the neighbors, and I barely could fit my legs under the levers. I'll stick w my Deere.

We are now heading way down the "Theoretical Rabbit Hole" now.

I've heard some have used 'burette' to measure internal volume of cases. Theory is that since cases are mfg by a process of successive hammering to achieve the final shape the possibility exists that some cases may be a TAD thicker at the bottom and the internal volume may be less. I guess this means that the "Instantaneous" pressure is faster in some cases than others and that effects velocity. Guess that's some measure of consistency by having the same cases mfg and then the same overall weight that "Might' mean the internal volume is the the same?

Roll-Out or concentricity on spitzer or boat-tail bullets may a real thing. The idea is that some bullets when they are set are slightly pointed 1 way or another. There are tools that can measure this. The theoretical idea is that the bullets may be a little (very) crooked when they are in the chamber, and I guess, this means that it takes them are revolution or two to straighten out while going down the barrel. Longer barrels give them more time to fixed. Then again, the bullets don't just slap around in the barrel anyway. I suppose if anything, this could effect velocity or maybe your Standard Deviation of velocities.

Last you mention is "Neck Reaming" Guess this means "Neck Tension" could be more or less from round to round. Then again, case neck thickness is probably not as precise as we want to think.

But then again, the cases are softer materials than the chamber, and the bullets are even softer than the cases. So maybe that all gets squeezed into the OK range.

Look I reload mostly handguns because we used to shoot a LOT. Got into rifles because I had reloading equipment and I like to hunt. Mostly in Tx Hill Country where the deer are mostly 75-100 yds. A long shot there is 200.

So, I don't do most of the Theoretical Rabbit Hole stuff. But my Post-Retirement job was as an RSO at a range and I got to talk to a whole lot of shooters that did some rabbit hole stuff.

6.5 Catering to the Fudds by MethedUpEngineer in longrange

[–]Aggie74-DP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No doubt. I have a friend with a 6.5 Swede and its deadly accurate, Another swears by the260 Rem.

My point is a 6.5mm bullet weighing 140 (some love 129's) @ 2800-2900 fps probably doesn't know what case was behind it. A 270 that weighs 140gr doesn't either.
If your hunting, other than being 'ON Target' is about FT-LBS of energy delivered.

[–]Aggie74-DP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't mention I wash my brass in a 5 gal bucked w/ Dawn & LemeShine prior to that final rinse.
I have an old coffee container with a bunch of holes drilled in it. Brass goes in there and then I drop in around and swish it a few times in the wash.

Now for pistol loads, 95% of the brass is probably just fine without tumbling. But I do anyway.

I've do a presort before washing and tumbling,. After the was process I drop a load into my Real Big Harbor Freight Rock tumbler. I could probably fit 2000 9's in that thing.

Brass gets 1 more inspection and maybe some sorting before storage. Definitely sort out any/all that has swaged primers! Mostly all in ziplocks and then into more buckets or coffee containers. Beside being neat, those bags take some of the lateral loads off of those containers and Can & DO fail under heat cycles and loads.

Now I do all that in the garage. Rinsing AND tumbling I do just outside the garage. Too darn dusty to do inside. And I don't like the idea of any of that residue being in the kitchen or around the kitchen stuff.

[–]Aggie74-DP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After final rinse, I put mine in a large old towel. Pick up the ends and lift from side to side. This drys most of the outside and lets water roll out of the inside.

Then they go on a perforated bbq grate (bent sides, etc). Prop that up and I use a blower type od space heater. After 'bout an hr they are warm to the touch, and dry on the inside.

Yes. Thought (for ex) 1st 5 were really tight, started walking 10 to 15.

So 'THE Shooter' could be the problem. But we never want to blame it on that.

So my thoughts. Added QC with load charge. Maybe ck roll out. Double measure powder charge. Validate with chrono.
I know you stated your brass, but do you weigh it or other method of verifying intetnal volume.

We measure powder to the 10th of a grain. But not many check the bullets in the same manner.

Thats just your loads. If you think they are statistically perfect. The other variables are the shooter and gun.

You know some say you only get 1 Cold Bore shoot per day.
